Using meters and water resistance is dumb. Things are water resistant in units of ATM, atmospheres, as water pressure can vary depending on many factors.

Also if you get a '300 meter' water resistant watch a battery change it will probably no longer be that water resistant. This is due to things like the seal cracking when opening the case, people not resealing the gasket or even throwing the gasket away.

I don't wear a watch these days but if I wanted to again I would re-crystal, current one has a crack, and clean my Hamilton. If you are going to wear a watch these days it should either be a nice mechanical or a dive watch.

Otherwise use your **** phone to tell the time.

That sounds really good. I love blueberries in a dessert. Not all dripping with sugary syrup, just fresh blueberries.
Not fresh blueberries I'm afraid. Partially because they're not sold much now and partially because they're hideously expensive. So it's going to be frozen blueberries although the ones I'm going to get are actually surprisingly tasty. Not making a big sugary mess out of them helps too of course.

I decided, post Timeline, that I really didn't need everyone to see what I looked like and did in high school. Smiley: lolSmiley: lolSmiley: lol

Since Facebook did everything it could to make automatic profile cleaning impossible, I just decided to create a new one.

[EDIT]

So is anyone playing (or did they try) MoP?

They have a 10 day trial thing for existing accounts. Figure I might as well see what they've been up to. Considering I have no expectations, I might actually have some fun. I've kind of missed not having an MMO to play for the past few months. Well, I still have GW2, but I haven't felt like playing it since November.

I tried out MoP. Haven't renewed my subscription, though, but I'll probably do it next month. Right now I'm playing SWTOR. Figured I might as well get something out of the million bucks I sunk into their RMT shop to unlock all the basic stuff that other F2P games give you.

Not playing MoP and I have no temptation to try it either. I do kind of miss playing an MMO but there's just not an MMO out now that's interesting.

Renewing my subscription to WoW after a six months actually made me realize just how well-polished a game it is compared to the other games out there. Sure, the graphics are a bit old by now, but the game feels... solid.

Still mad at them for messing with my favorite class, though.

I'm getting sucked back into EVE. I love the overwhelming detail and depth, yet I hate the overwhelming detail and depth. Getting lost in the market/production aspects is a killer.

And PvP. Well, it is a PvP game, with certain areas for carebears to hang out.

It's nice though, that after a couple of months you can make enough in-game currency to play for free. With no limitations.

I'm a little carebear out in the field
Here is my blaster, here is my shield
When I get painted watch me run
Just scramble and burn me, I am done

Just grabbed WoW and MoP (it's half price at the moment). It's been alright overall.

Pet Battles could get you hooked for a while if you liked pokemon. It's like pokemon-lite, simplified a bit and more about finding the right pet and raising it to counter a trainer's pet than customizing your team. There's not much you can do to change your pets. 3 different useable moves, each can be one of two different ones. You can see all your opponents pets and moves when you start, so no hiding anything. Hence PvP pet battles are a joke, RNG for the most part if your types are better than your random assigned opponent you'll usually win. Unless of course you have a rare pet with an unusually powerful ability, then you just mow over anyone who doesn't have a particular counter for you.

Single-player storytelling is fairly decent, typical WoW stuff really, better than your run-of-the-mill MMO. Not WotLK amazing, but still plenty involved with a few interesting twists and turns and typical WoW humor. More linear storytelling like Cata.

Haven't tried PvP yet, but hope to once I get another level or two on my shaman. The simplified talent system isn't bugging me as much as I thought it would. It's actually fairly customizable. I like that many of these talents are giving me a choice of a passive ability or an active CD. I can choose what I want to have when, and which CD's and how many I want to manage. Some of them are no-brainer decisions, but a lot of time it's more like which would you prefer, which is nice. Feels like they actually delivered on that part.

Endgame is apparently pretty grindy, lot of dailies from what I hear, and they say the Heriocs are more like WotLK difficulty and less like Cata.

Overall a big step up from Cata, still not what WoW used to be IMO, but back going in the right direction.

The biggest problem for me is that the story is ALWAYS my number one concern in games. I will tolerate attrocious combat for a good story. I rarely play games with amazing combat if the story doesn't interst me.

But as of Cataclysm, I'm just not loving it. The whole story line became too separated from the essence of what WoW was originally about--the daily life of people. Which is ironic, considering it revamped the old world. Which was great, but the endgame story was completely disconnected from the average person in the WoW universe. Just about everything in the story came down to Immortals, and the people were along for the ride.

I feel like MoP could be better, by not having a big bad. I was originally turned off by Pandaria, just because it felt too much like fan service, but I've HEARD it was well done. I know I don't like where they've brought character customization; I definitely prefer talent trees. I like making decisions while I level and absolutely hated the Cataclysm system. I didn't like making a decision only every 3 (or whatever) levels. I'm guessing every 15 isn't going to be fun.

/shrug.

As for TOR, I just don't understand their decisions. At all. All of them make the worst aspects of the game even worse (traveling, for one), and make the good aspects of the game harder to access (story).

And the thing is, they have a lot of competition in the market. TSW and GW2 are both flat-cost games that use microtransactions primarily for aesthetic things that don't have a meaningful impact on the game. EQ2 and LOTRO are both more oldschool F2P models, with unlocks for races and such, but you can actually play the game without them, and most unlocks seem to only matter for endgame, or their aesthetic (like a larger, shared wardrobe).

There's also AION, but I haven't really looked at their system, so I don't know how it is.

Then you have RIFT and WoW, both of which are subs, but have free-to-20 systems and ship out content at an incredible rate (it's worth noting that GW2 has put out just about as much content since its launch as TOR has, despite TOR being out almost a year when it launched).

It boggles my mind why they would make such poor decisions. Ditto goes for making FFXIV sub-based. At this point, what they need to do is attract players. I have no doubts the game will be vastly better when it launches again, but they've already failed once. Not going F2P is just worrisome.

I'm hoping Wildstar will be as fun as it seems. I'm not sold on what I've seen of the combat, but I'll grant that it is at least new enough and unique enough it could work.

Yeah, most people just understand meters/feet better, so that's what Rolex started using on the first dive watches. I believe Panerai picked it up for their dive watches as well, and it's kind of been the standard ever since.

A sapphire crystal shouldn't cost that much (probably $50-100) to have replaced.

I just seem to have very little time for video games in general now. I still enjoy them, just don't have time. I work 25-30 hours a week, I'm in Alice in Wonderland, I'm doing singing lessons, and on top of that I'm trying to get paperwork in order to get back to school and move next month. When I do play though, I've been working my way through the first Assassin's Creed game, and I enjoy it.

Prepare to buy AC2 when you're done with 1. Just because of the ******************** ending. And then the same for AC2 and brotherhood and then revelations and AC3.

Well that was far from pleasant...

Anyway. I'm still on AC:Brotherhood actually. But I've had a lot of the story spoiled, unfortunately. Part of the problem is that I'm completely uninterested in AC3. I'll give it a shot, but I don't like the clear move away from stealth that the series is taking. The platforming/stealth aspect is what made AC so interesting in the first place. The historical settings just made that more interesting. I think I'll hold out to see what comes next before I continue with the series. If they return to stealth, I'll soldier through.

Yeah I prefer talent trees too, or at least something where you're doing something to develop your character every level. The gaps make leveling up almost feel worthless. For what it's worth its not as terrible of a system as I feared, and the choices they have you make are interesting, but there are so few now it's kinda a bummer.

Guessing I'll probably cap a character or two, PvP a little, and move on in a month or two.

I really don't get it much either. It really feels like they don't want a F2P/micro-transaction game and they're trying to make it as painful as possible to force you to subscribe. I'm glad I followed it closely and planned ahead as it took a lot of the sting out; coming in unprepared to the model is either be expensive or frustrating. Not so good.

So my first day was decent. Not everyone was in the office today, so I didn't actually meet anyone new (everyone working today I met at my interview). Was mostly a slower day, just talked with the director and did some copy-editing and rewriting. The rest was spent researching the current state of their website and social media usage.

I was already aware of prisons in Norway that are like that, from watching Sicko. It was a bit of a tangent on Moore's part, but he spent about 10-15 minutes on Norway's prisons. Though he made it sound like all of their prisons are like that. Still, interesting read, thanks Aeth.

I actually get the feeling that part of why my day was calmer is because everyone else was too busy to take too much time to train me, so they just relegated me to tasks they knew I could do without guidance. XD

Dear god, what have I done.

Couple of weeks ago, I got a call from the school where I had my internship. They were looking for a temporary teacher for some science classes and I took them. Turns out it's not so much a substitute teacher job as it is "here are some kids, now you're their teacher... good luck!" So many administrative things to keep track of. I'm so confused, I can't even think straight.

At least the money's good. Smiley: thumbsup
