If something else has already been posted addressing this, then I apologize, and could you please direct me to it? Otherwise, here is my issue. I have played many MMOs over the course of the last few years. I tried FFXI and didn't like it much. I recently decided to give FFXIV a try and, much to my surprise, I actually enjoy it a bit.

I made a character on a newer server and was quite displeased with the lack of communication between players, so I deleted that character and decided to move to a more populated server in the hopes of maybe seeing some increase in player to player communication.

When I was on the other server I had started out as a CNJ and then switched to a THM. When I was fighting, there was no problem. I simple would target a mob, then choose the spell and it would cast. When I switched to the new server, I started right out as a THM and now, for whatever reason, I have to choose the mob, choose the spell, then choose the mob again in order for it to cast. Is there a setting that I am overlooking to change it back to where I can just choose the mob and cast? I use a gamepad, so macros really won't work for me.

Any insight someone can provide into this would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance.

The targeting/casting on this game needs to be fixed is all (They are working on it). I am a thaumaturge as well, for me, I have to target my enemy > spell key (1-9) > enter to cast. If you get stuck on one target (cannot switch to multiple targets) try hitting the escape key x2 and re-target.

Check you have the right targeting on too. Sometimes you may have switched it to party or enemy instead of all by accident. If you have yourself targeted you can still cast magic on mobs as a THM. If you have the circular targeting on you press the number for the spell you would like to cast i.e. Thunder and you should have a purple circle spinning on you, now hit tab or the correct F key (I have reassigned mine so I'm not too familiar with the default) to select the mob and hot enter. You could also try and make a macro to fire a spell straight at a mob when it is targeted - type '/ac "Thunder" <t>' as your macro and assign CTRL+1 and you will automatically fire off a Thunder spell on the targeted mob every time you hit CTRL+1. Keep in mind also that if you move while casting your spell will be interrupted.
