How much would you tip someone?

Recently broke a Halcyon rod while fishing. I'm wondering how much I should tip an alchemist to repair the rod. It's a pretty high level synth (70+)

I'd put the broken rod on the AH and buy a fixed one.
If I were the crafter, I wouldn't expect a tip.
If for some reason, I had it fixed by a stranger, I'd give them 1-3k, but I'd be surprised if the crafter cared.

In general, if you're providing all materials (including the crystal) and it's not a profit synth, many crafters are happy to just do the synth for you. At least, my friends and I work that way. I agree with Xypin that it's nice to toss a few thousand gil in thanks, but it's probably not necessary.

That AH plan is a good one, depending on your server's economy,
