The link above is to the original post of Lu Shang's Journal. It was a great resource and I used it often. Unfortunately, the link to download the pdf file is gone. Normally, this would not be a problem since I kept a copy on my pc... but recently, I lost everything I had including the journal.

EDIT:

Journal now found here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/80054039/LuShangsJournalv1.0.0.pdf

Also, you can use Wayback Machine through old links to download the journal as well.

I have it. Let me find it... ^-^

Edit: Here's the link. I have never used Rapidshare or the likes, so if this does not work, PM me. Many times.

Just wanted to post a big thank you for bumping this thread. I was looking for a good fishing guide and this showed up!

I do have a question. what does A-K/A-K mean? I understand the legend in the bottom but I don't understand the difference for the '/' and I don't understand why certain fishes are highlighted in yellow.

To the best of my knowledge.

The first A-K means the rods A-K can break on that fish.
The second means that those rods have their line break.

Fish being highlighted in yellow mean that they can be isolated. For example Knightswell pond in West Ronf. Insect Paste will only catch Moat Carp.

I like the layout of this guide but I think some of the info on what rod will break on what fish is a bit off.

So.... I saw this post while at work and was planning to post the link right after I returned gome, but I kind of forgot.

While I doubt the person who requested the link is still around, the guide is still pretty amazing, if not somewhat old, so I'll post this for others. I believe the material in the document is still accurate, just a lot of new stuff is missing.

Just a note, this isn't a guide on how to reach lv100 fishing, it's only a document describing size, location, and best bait for every fish in FFXI as of Aug. 5, 2006. (Yes, it's old, but fishing really isn't all that different since then either).

Anyway, Lu Shang's Journal https://dl.dropbox.com/u/80054039/LuShangsJournalv1.0.0.pdf

I take no credit for this guide, I only had the pdf saved on my pc since it was so great.

What a coincidence! I was just passing by this to see if anyone still needed the PDF. Strange that you're now the one uploading it for somebody else.

I don't know... you guys got to point this kind of stuff out to me.

Says it was downloaded a couple weeks ago by someone, so I guess it's still working?

I think I'll move the document to my dropbox tonight since I know that will always work.

Nothing wrong with it, but then you have an extra layer that you have to go through.

Anyway, a more stable link should be up now. Will update first post with link and wayback machine.

wow this is nice.
I was thinking about writing something like this in my livejournal but it seems most of the info is already in that pdf.
It wasn't what I was expecting at all. :)
(I thought it was going to give you tips on the best places to fish moat carps!)

The only issue with the recomended websites posted within the pdf aren't updated like they used to which was another reason why I wanted to make my own LJ.
