The Shard Collectors was founded in early 2005, and grew to become one of the largest guilds in Everquest 2. Over the years, we became the home away from home for thousands of players throughout the world. A large part of the guild's success can be summed up in 1 word...understanding. We understand that time, whether for leisure or family/freinds, is precious. We have always taken great pride in cultivating an atmosphere which allows for successful goal achievement, without having to make unreasonable "real life" compromises.

Shards was founded on the principles of inclusion, integrity, respect, and long-term stability. When we do something, we do it for the long haul...but mainly...we do it with "keeping the game fun" in mind. We recognize a game for what it is. Entertainment.

With that being said, we do like to mix things up a bit. Our guild includes folks from all woks of life, and covers a wide age-spectrum. While the majority of our membership is in the 25-45 age range, we do have many younger and older folks among the ranks as well. We are a family freindly guild, and we intend to keep it that way. We love to group up, shoot-the-breeze, and yes...we love to raid and tackle things as a team. We are casual in some aspects (i.e. no mandatory raid attendance, generally 1-2 raids max per week scheduled) ... though slightly less so in others (i.e. our raid force comes out to win and we expect our force to prepare accordingly; we use a suicide kings/DKP loot system; we raid regularly). Though we may be somewhat difficult to categorize, we definitely know what we stand for and who we want standing with us

The Shard Collectors is looking for folks from all Callings and Playstyles. We are recruiting soloers and groupers, tradeskillers and Raiders alike. We do not recruit for gear/player levels, we recruit for character. We're looking for folks who care about their guild, and who care about each other. We want folks who are here to have fun, but not at the expense of others

It is rare that we will activate a forum registration out of the blue from eTrrkssaw91

Sounds good Aaroc, I activated your forum account so you are good to go. We definitely plan on raiding and rift hunting, but as one focus among several. No hardcore-edness for us :D

Well, there is a rumor that there might be some server shakeup from Beta come live...but if Byriel still exists, that's where we'll head. Its been pretty high volume throughout the Betas and I know quite a few good folks heading there from other guilds as well.

We're definitely a PVE guild, so I can't say how many members would throw themselves into PvP (as in contested zones/wardstone battles)...but, I wouldn't be surprised if a good bunch might be interested in sporadic forays or possibly Warfronts at least to some degree. I'm not a big PvPer myself but I'm sure I could be convinced to hop in occasionally.

You'd be welcome to test the interest levels, just keep in mind that most current members have joined knowing it it is primarily a PVE guild. In EQ2, we were PVE as well though...and a fair number still hopped into the PvP arena battles at some point or another.

The atmosphere does sound like what you are looking for, minus the PvP orientation as a guild type. I don't see any issue with members hopping into warfronts whenever they want either way. We're cetainly not going to discourage it...unless it involves greifing or harrasing folks to PvP (guildies or non-guildies). Could be fun to organize the odd guild Warfront skirmish night I suppose too....maybe you'd want to organize it with us? :D

Thanks for the response Chimp. I'll see what the others think and say about it. Mainly most of us would be just doing warfronts. I think only one of our friends really is into the world pvp, so he would enjoy having the big raid battles and going to like the main city raid.

We're not so much into the lowbie/griefing pvp either. So you shouldn't have any problems with that from us. :)

I think that most of us players would just enjoy the community among the guild itself than those who just are pvpers because alot of us would have considered ourselves hardcore/semi-hardcore raiders, but have had enough of that and want the casual raiding scene as you guys are setting up. :)

I, myself was a guildmaster alongside with one of us being a raid leader and some of us being pvp leaders, but again we aren't hoping for a hardcore or pvp focused guild, but just wouldn't mind if some would join in for some pvp on the side. :)

I'd definitely be more than happy to help with organizing something.

I'll talk with the others and see what they say, but just hearing back from you and responding is promising enough for me.

Great to see the forums are actively being watched! I am pretty excited about this new game and meeting new people to learn the game with and run dungeons and raids. If there is anything that I can do to prepare beforehand, let me know, as I want to have an active role in the guild. I am used to being a raid leader and usually take the point, but with so many unknowns, I'm nervous about all this new and unexplored content. I hope to begin the game with you all and hope to be an integral part of our progression.
