Only $25,000...

I don't think I'd be willing to spend that much on such a thing, even if I was rolling in dough

I saw a collection like this up for auction last month or so. I think the guy auctioning it was collecting the games in order to make the best quality ROMs he could. I want to say he was one of the devs of zSNES or SNES9x but it could be another emulator. There was some post on Reddit about it. I guess I could understand someone wanting such a collection. My only problem is that it's every game instead of a collection of someone's favorites (excepting, of course, that loon who actually likes all the games). I always wanted a nice vinyl collection, so I guess it'n not really any different than that. I wouldn't want a collection of all the jazz vinyl from the 60's or something, though. I would just want a representation of what I like. I guess someone might want an ultra-rare pressing, for rarity's sake, so it's just a difference in collection philosophy.

Awww. I thought this was going to be like NESter DC, the Dreamcast ROM that had every NES game ever made in the US and Japan.

Discovered Bomblast on that thing. Best Tetris variant ever.

Hey he only lives about an hour and a half from me, I could save some money on shipping! I don't know that it would be worth 25k. Most SNES games are prob not worth more than a couple of dollars each but then again there are those rare titles that sometimes go for large amounts of money. Might be 1 or 2 games in there that might sell for several thousand dollars each.

Somewhere in my mom's house is my boxed copy of Chrono Trigger, with the maps/posters and booklet. That's probably the only SNES item I own that's worth anything.

You may want to check on your mom.

When I was a kid, starting at a very young age, I had amassed a collection of about 150 NES, SNES and Sega Genesis games. The games, and my consoles, were like priceless treasures to me.

At some point, I brought a selection of games to my cousin's house (all my best games) because my family was staying with his for a while. Somehow during the time we were there, he sold them all Smiley: frown

He grew up, got a really hot girlfriend last I saw, and got drafted by the Kanses City Royals. The rest of my games were sold by my little brother-- for drugs I assume.

AVGN has taught me that old console games were horrible.

It is auctions like that that make me realize just how idiotic collectors are.

My kid sold a Nintendo Flintstones game for almost $300.00 last year. Apparently it was never sold as a stand alone game. It only came in some promotional package or something.

Maybe it never had a manual. Smiley: clown

I was looking on ebay this weekend for leggings. One listing grabbed my attention. It was for a well worn pair of slipper socks. It was the picture that caught my eye. The slipper socks were those one-size-fits-all tan fuzzy ankle socks with the grippy stuff on the bottom - the ones they give you at the hospital. Curiosity drove me to check the other listings of this particular seller. What kind of person attempts to sell their used hospital socks on ebay?!

I'm all for reusing stuff but man this is almost as bad as selling used stained underwear.

The value of a completed collection is worth (Or usually worth) way more then selling off any piece individually. Some Collecter's stigma I think, I don't know.
