Question for people playing multi-player. What's the point of promoting your character?

I'm working on a Salarian Infiltrator in multi now. Wish I could pop a uber sniper rifle, seems like I see so many people with widow variants and I am using the level IV version of the basic one. :(

BUT! Drain energy is uber, loving drain energy in multi. It's the first thing I maxed.

I took a Sentinal to level 20. Nice survival with the holo armor and cool to have some biotic hybrid tricks. Mostly used a shotgun and pistol with him.

As much as I love my Vanguard in single player sometimes I find them a bit annoying in multi. They love to charge right in front of the mob I am about to head shot and eat my shot in the back while cherry picking my kill lol. Then they invariably bite off more than they can chew... hmm should I rez him or hang back here and pop mobs with my sniper rifle?

I will say I have seen some freakin beast vangaurds though in multi. Kind of makes me want to level one next since that was my single player main.

I haven't gotten any new weapons for my Sentinel's play style. I don't like being in the fray, and I've only gotten shotgun rewards. Kinda annoying.

I actually would love to try playing a defensive Vanguard (blasphemy, I know). Use your charge ability to keep everything at a distance, and use Snipers and an accurate Assault rifle or SMG.

Awesome for me, but I expect to see quite a bit of anger from CE customers.

I think you are forgetting how little the internet needs to go full rage over something. :P Plus, we don't know what the victory pack will contain.

Of course, their rage will be irrelevant, since they are MP-only weapons, but I've long stopped expecting rationality from the internet.

Also, I bet I get the shotgun.

I see them all the time. And yeah, they're a pain in the ass.

Landing a headshot on those things when they're constantly flipping around and being a general hard to kill cockroach is pretty annoying.

What about the rest of their stats? Capacity and Accuracy being the important ones.

3 shots would be more than sufficient to make it the better rifle, imo.

So you multiplayer peeps get your Silver Reapers clear in yet? I think I cleared it about 3-4 times so hopefully one of those sticks for my bonus pack. I've also been putting in some good work on Brutes at the bronze level.

Got me a level 19 Soldier, Sentinal, and Infiltrator so far. Love my Krogan Soldier, him smash.

Just unlocked Asari Adept from a spectre pack. Gonna go Carnifax + Stasis bubble and pop some heads now.

NICE! Grats bud. I agree Silver and above is no joke, it gets crazy. I've wiped much more than I have won on silver. I tried gold Reapers once just for kicks. By Wave 2 you got Banshees and Brutes. Wave 3 was just fuggetaboutit. Ravagers cross firing your posistion while Banshee's and Brutes overrun you in a swarm.

I started my second play through of the single player campaign now as well. Going Femshep this time. *Looks at Traynor. How you doin?

Holy...what the? WAVE TWO? That's crazy. I could never clear that.

What's pissing me off the most is that there's no explanation from Bioware. We can enable data tracking on PS3 just the same so that's not the issue. All they said is "technical limitation" but that's so vague that it could mean anything. When asked on their forum to be more specific the answer was: sorry we can't say anything.

They already track our data and the weapons you get as a reward are already in the single player game. What is so complex with this event that the PS3 can't handle it? Hell you could play coop with PC player in Portal 2. That sounds a lot more technically complex to accomplish than this event yet Valve pulled it off.

Maybe but I don't see why Sony would be against that. A lot of indie developer even say that the PSN is more open and easier to work with for special promo and other thing than Xbox live.

Unless... They came up with this event at the last minute to deflect the criticism about the ending and couldn't get Sony's approval in time. They can't say anything because they swear this event was planned a long time ago and has nothing to do with the recent outrage. If that's the case then telling the reason for PS3 exclusion would be admitting that they are lying about the planning of the event. Well that's my conspiracy theory. It makes as much sense as saying Sony didn't want the PS3 to be included.

Every multiplayer event I can remember on the PS3 is one where everyone gets the reward, or no one. If it was something that was patched in, I could see that being a non issue. But this seems more like a remote-access type of thing. That might be outside the realm of what's allowed/possible for the PS3's online features.

This isn't just tracking who clears X, it's tracking who clears X with a subsequent reward to them at a later date, with another reward contingent on some Y being cleared as well.

Not saying it's definitely this, of course. I have no clue. Just putting it out there that it could be more annoying for the developer to do, given the way the system is set up. Because this isn't a universal patch, or something players choose individually. This is affecting the game of specific players, rather than the pack.

Whatever the problem is, it would be nice if they could at least tell us what it is. If for example the data tracking for PS3 only tracks single player stats and can't track kill count for multiplayer then just say it but no Bioware doesn't want to say anything.

Might be I'm reading too much into this but the fact they don't want to address the issue at all just makes it seems like they are trying to hide some shortcomings on their part. Why would they take all the criticism from their PS3 fanbase if the problem is not on their end?

Anyway it doesn't really matter, the event is over and I'm still having fun with the multiplayer. I hope you guys killed enough brute to get the victory package and maybe next time I'll be able to help.

That's exactly my point. By refusing to give any explanation, it makes them look bad even if it's not their fault. If the problem is with the PSN or the PS3 itself, they could just say it and people would bitch at Sony instead of Bioware. That they decided to take all the criticism makes me think that they are to blame. Why would they willingly damage their reputation to protect Sony?

Well I am displeased and for good reason. We PS3 players paid the same price as everybody else but are not getting the same product. You are right I have no proof beyond a feeling but then I don't have any proof to blame Sony either. Since I gave my money to Bioware for a Bioware game and it's a Bioware event, I'm expecting answers from Bioware.

Maybe you're right that they can't discuss technical details due to contractual obligation but " We deeply apologize to PS3 players for being excluded from this event. Due to circumstances out of our control we cannot at this time extend this promotion to our valued PS3 customers but rest assured we are doing everything we can to resolve the issue. We take this situation very seriously and we'll let you know as soon as we have a solution." sounds a lot better than "can't say anything" and it would not put them in any kind of legal trouble.

You're right about something else, it isn't helping anything so I'm done with the subject. I just needed to complain and it's better here than on the Bioware forums. At least here I get some logical and intelligent counterpoint instead of PS3 sucks!!!! Xbox is the best!!!!!!

Now let's go back to discussing the multiplayer. Anybody managed to finish a gold challenge yet?
Wave 6 (cerberus) I think is the best I did on gold.

I only managed 3 or 4 silver. It's usually better if you don't get to the extraction point until there's only a few seconds left. I played with some team that just rush to the extraction point as soon as the wave start and then just get swarmed with nowhere to take cover. Just spread out, take cover and clear the banshee/brute/ravager/prime/atlas then run to the extraction point when there's 15-20 seconds left. If you do that you can separate the tougher mob instead of getting a banshee and a couple brute ganging up on your group in a small area.

Luck of the draw I guess. It's not easy to get a bunch of strangers more interested in getting the higher score than completing the objective to work together but cooperation is essential to succeed at higher difficulty. Sometimes you get lucky and get a good team, most of the time you get 3 other people who run to the extraction and try to take cover behind the same crate.

Yeah that's probably even worst than extraction. I guess the solution is the same, just give up the time bonus and have 2 people spread out outside the hacking zone to draw the brute and banshee. Also a good time to use some of those rockets.

If you want to kill with biotic, adept works really well. The pull/reave combo (Drell adept) kills any mob that's not protected by armor. If you only carry a light weapon, you can pretty much spam it and rack up the kills. For the tougher mob you still have your grenades.

Asari Adept with stasis bubble and a barrel+Scope Carnifax is insane. Bronze just becomes trivial, You can stasis bubble trap 3 mobs at a time and Pop Pop Pop their heads. I have ended matches with 50 headshots and 75 kills lol. +plus biotic kills and Aoe Melee kills. I'm usually first or second with the Asari.

I don't put any points in throw, just Justicar, Fitness, Stasis(Bubble), and remaining points in Warp for setting up detonations and helping to remove sheilds from Banshee's and the like. I have a 190% recharge rate after taking the 30% reduced weight to heavy pistols. I can spam a second bubble before the first bubble wears off and took the talent that sometimes bubble does not cause a cool down so I can toss a warp back to back with stasis. On silver or above it takes more than one shot to behead a mob but it's still quite doable. I even took down an atlas just with biotics and the pistol once when my team was on the other side of the map.

With another biotic of any sort like a vanguard its detonation city. My new favorite class hands down and probably a bit OP. Got her to 18 last night.
