Botany question? (frustrating)Follow

I started the game with the release and played for a month, then left for personal reasons. Last week I decided I wanted to come back. All is well, I'm really enjoying the game and having blast with everything. Botany was something I initially started in my first week playing and really like it. It's currently sitting at rank 14 and skill points are coming between 56-100 rank points per successful grade 2 log. While doing guild leves yield 100-150 per successful log. At 18 botanist gets the grade 3 skills, but should I move to grade three now? I rarely play botanist because of this anymore, and I know it isn't the exp cap since Ive only played botanist for roughly one hour over the past week. What could I be doing wrong or need to change in my logging /harvesting methods? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Or is this just how DoL ranks(slowly and frustratingly)?

Thanks, found a good triangle(more like hexagon...) of points in South Shroud of grade 3, slightly better. Thanks for the addvice ^^

Yeah DoL leves are every x5, so at 14 he'd still have one more rank to go before he could access R20 Camps.
