Has anyone run into any Grade 5 fishing locations yet? They seem few and far in between, but maybe I've just been unlucky. The only one I've found so far is:

La Noscea (23,6) Iron Lake (Grade 5)
by Camp Iron Lake

The level 40 fishing guildleves in Ul'Dah apparently take place at Halatali, so I'm assuming there might be some around there as well.

That one is probably the most convenient.

Another Grade 5 location is the river area on the west side of Coerthas, but you'll have to dodge Firedrakes to get there. It is a heavily patroled area.

I have not done any dungeon exploring yet really but here are some camps I've found:
Grade 6: There is a fishing hole just (edit:) NorthEast of Camp Bluefrog in the Ul'Dah desert area. It is a safe area.
Grade 7: I haven't found any yet.
Grade 8: Clearwater Lake area (NE lake in Coerthas)
Grade 9: Limsa Lominsa, off the cliffs next to the Ageless Wise aetherial node
Grade 10: The lake North of Twinpools aetheryte in Coerthas and the very far west lake.

What rank does grade five become feasible at? I'm still getting 113-140 from grade 4 at rank 28. I'm assuming around rank 30 will be time to move on.

I'm going to try again at rank 35. I'm at about 34.5 right now. I tried a couple ranks ago and the fish just weren't biting, at either Halatali or Iron Lake. I'm not sure if that's a result of being too low for the Grade of water, or if they are just bad spots.

Thanks for the info. What did you do from 28+? Spam grade 4? I find that the schools don't yield any more sp than simply fishing anywhere. Is it really just a leve + grind?

--- Edit ---
I don't wanna start a new thread for this: Have you hit a second fisher guild quest yet?

Yup, grind to your heart's content. Or really, just your sanity. :p

I actually haven't even done the first one yet. I'm going to do it soon I hope. I just really wanted rank 35 to see the new guildleves. :)

It's my opinion that a new grade opens up every 8 ranks. So a grade 5 should(?) be feasible at Rank 32+.

It might have to do with gear. The Rattan Fishing Rod may be necessary, and I would recommend all of the Dodoskin equipment listed for Fishing Rank 27.

Since hitting rank 35, fish have started biting at Grade 5 pools.
