I considered it just to get gear that was inline with harvesting and for the startig gear. But odds are probably not. =/

I toyed with the idea of this for the initial gear. However the fishing hat is pretty cheap in Limsa guild and the boost is easily achieved with other gear early in the game. So it makes much more sense to run with a DoW or DoM at the start. After you get the 30k gil from the starter quest you can buy what tools you need for the path you will follow. So best advice DON'T!!!

I actually started as an Archer, but because of money issues switched to Botanist almost full time, and crafting partime...I'll get back to regular Jobs later... Botanist is key to getting Carpentry and Weaving going...as well as make a TON of cash with NPC sales
those arrows don't make themselves, NPC arrows expensive...like FFXI an Archer needs to be able to make arrows

For sure, I loved it during open beta. Will probably be a Miqote and start in Gridania or Limsa Lominsa.
