No. The ps3 version looks fine for what it's supposed to. What you're watching is a compressed video. Even the PC version looked bad to be till I ran the benchmark for myself. If you ran the benchmark on low and medium settings, it still looks nice. Meaning, that that ps3 wont look any different.

Good point; but he also stated that they are only doing the ps3 version because they promised it. They said if FFXIV is successful and enough people ask for it they are looking at other consoles coming out and would release it.

That's why he won't look at F2P and micro transactions until 2.0 is launched because they want every single promise they ever made about the game to be completed. He's said that many times. I also don't think we will get PS3 limitations, already the newest items for FFXI aren't even coming to PS2/XBOX, pc is getting a completely revamped UI with chat tabs supported outside the actual game window.

One of the recent interviews from him (2 days ago) said that SE needed to change and they took the fans and the final fantasy name for granted. I'm really excited about this.

Ya sorry meant that as "tongue in cheek" response And yes I do sort of remember a interview where they stated the PC version wouldn't be drug down by the PlayStation version this time around. So I guess the whole "EQUAL PLATFORMS!" noise from XI's early days has been finally shot down. Biggest complaint the 8ish years I played XI, I had a PC that could run 99% of everything on the market on max settings without breaking a sweat, but do something major in XI and it ran like crap.

I won't worry about delays until the PC version has an official release date. Which it does not.

So if they had to, they could "delay" the PC version until the PS3 version is already ready go to. Whether that means tacking on an extra week or an extra month, who knows?

No one is arguing that it looks good right now. (Well, it looks okay in stills. Just animated looks like crap.)

We're arguing that, when the beta version of PC hasn't even started yet, that it is unfair to extrapolate the need for a delay in the PS3 version when it's not even being beta tested until Phase III. No one will be testing out the PS3 version for approximately two months. That gives them two months to get it optimized. Assuming they're doing the smart thing and have an entire team dedicated to it (considering they brought Sony on board and knowing how IT project best practices go, there's a good 99% chance the PS3 team is dedicated exclusively to it), that means they have plenty of time to get it up and running before PS3 beta starts, probably in late April or early May.

Just to add to Wint's reply, Yoshi has said numerous times in various interviews that the ps3 version wouldn't look as good as the pc version. Yoshi has been completely honest about the subject and I believe I read somewhere that the ps3 version wont even be completely finalized until after phase 2 right before they add beta support to the ps3.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that I don't completely disagree with Poubelle. I agree that he tends to be pretty negative, but I think a few of his gripes are pretty well warranted.

I too thought the PS3 version had an obviously lower frame rate, but I just sort of wrote it off as a hardware limitation. From what I understand, the PS3 is notorious for being difficult to develop software for, but it's mostly due to hardware architecture, rather than raw power, which it obviously has.

All things considered, it doesn't look so bad as to where it'd be considered unplayable. Maybe that's the tradeoff ps3 users will have to make; you'll give up the definitive experience in exchange for the convenience and comfort of playing on your couch.

There's no reason these days you can't just plug an HDMI cable into your TV and use a controller. Still, I have to wonder if you guys ever even play on these consoles if you think that kind of performance is something to complain about. Best I can figure is that you're spoiled by very high-end PC's.

It's not like I was suggesting that your mommies and daddies bought you a high end PC. I just find it a little hard to believe that you've actually spent any significant amount of time actually playing on the PS3 to think that these framerates are horrible. Most any game that has to render a lot of assets has the same occasional slowdown.

I remember lots of angry PS3 Skyrim costumers. Just in general with issues as well as delays on the DLC. Haven't kept up with that recently though.

Sorry . I just read it! Aren't not? Now I'm confused! I always thought Sony required games to have trophies, so I never gave it much thought. I figured it wouldn't similar to in game achievements. That they'd be an all encompassing trophy. Such as: Complete story mode, Get all jobs to 50, Kill all NMs etc. Not like a trophy for every thing we did. That's why I don't fully understand. The new expansion will have new content and just like all dlc add ons for ps3 games, they don't come with A LOT of trophies usually 5-10 tops. So the intial ARR would have the normal 40-50 trophies and expansions would each add 5-10. Oh well, disappointment abounds

I wanted to hear that ps3 trophy sound for getting "Armed to the Teeth" though! I'll go ahead and blame Tanaka for lack of trophies. He's at fault some how.

How is at least 4-6 months out close to release? My guess is they won't submit the master disk until the PS3 beta starts in phase 3 which is several months away still. They have time, they have Sony helping, there is no reason to fear the PS3 version not making the deadline.

That's the choice you make when you choose that platform. The PS2 version never looked as good as the PC version for XI.

Might be a reason to pull for the game being launched on the PS4 as well

Realistically? 2 years. I'm sure they didn't throw EVERYTHING away when they started ARR but they did state they rebuilt everything from the ground up.

I think both PC and PS3 versions of the game, will be delayed a month or so, just so they can brush up on bug fixes, and system overhauls, now i am not sure what SE will do regarding the PS3-PS4 but hopefully thy will stick with the PS3 until PS4 drops in price after release.

You do realize that the price of the ps4 won't drop for quite some time after its release. I'm sure people are just happy its on the ps3.

I hope those beta testers are crashing the servers good and hard first.
