I find it very odd how people are willing to spend their own real money in order to get into a fake club with fake lights and a fake bar, yet they don't want to pay monthly for a subscription based game (such as FF14, etc.) which would probably offer that for free as well as so much more. And the "community" that everyone refers to is better in subscription games... I understand that everyone has their own personal reasons as to why they don't want to pay extra for a game, but seriously?
I have never heard of this game before but I looked on Youtube and every other comment is "I can't do anything but walk around unless I pay"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDYpVn3vzGo Even in the video it says that the money comes "directly out of your bank account" It may just be me being in the banking industry, but does anyone else see problems with this? I understand giving your Credit Card information because Visa or Mastercard has way of preventing fraud.
This world we live in seems to make less sense with each passing minute.
Edit: I don't think I really answered the OP's question in my previous post; basically I don't think FF14 should go that route. I don't really have a reason why, just a personal preference.
This is a direct quote from the OP's link;
According to MindArk, the Swedish company behind Entropia, the virtual realm’s economy has a GDP of $442 million USD! That’s more than some small countries. The fixed exchange rate for Entropia has allowed gamers to view it as a potential area for investment. Jacobs originally paid $100,000 for the property that would become Club Neverdie, and he did so by mortgaging his real world home. Within a few years Jacobs had paid off that debt and was making enough from Entropia to live comfortably. Others have paid tens or hundreds of thousands for Entropia Universe property. Despite the fact that this man has made money from doing this (everyone gets lucky, he is no exception), but do you think that YOU would ever use the equity from your house as a loan in order to purchase property in an online world?
Once again, this world just does not make sense....................................................
