I read this posting and shook my head a little bit

Now, I'm not saying that this is going to happen at an even comparable scale, but I wonder how RMT will be when the largest house costs "tons of gil." Do we know if housing in any area will be unlimited, or will there only be so many spots in each location? Will that Limsa Lominsa pirate area I hear about offer housing, and if so, unlimited spots, or a set number? I hope they don't go with the limitation option anywhere, or RMT will have their jobs set. What do y'all think? Do you want priority housing, or free-for-all?

I find it very odd how people are willing to spend their own real money in order to get into a fake club with fake lights and a fake bar, yet they don't want to pay monthly for a subscription based game (such as FF14, etc.) which would probably offer that for free as well as so much more. And the "community" that everyone refers to is better in subscription games... I understand that everyone has their own personal reasons as to why they don't want to pay extra for a game, but seriously?

I have never heard of this game before but I looked on Youtube and every other comment is "I can't do anything but walk around unless I pay"

Even in the video it says that the money comes "directly out of your bank account" It may just be me being in the banking industry, but does anyone else see problems with this? I understand giving your Credit Card information because Visa or Mastercard has way of preventing fraud.

This world we live in seems to make less sense with each passing minute.

Edit: I don't think I really answered the OP's question in my previous post; basically I don't think FF14 should go that route. I don't really have a reason why, just a personal preference.

Uhh I forget where I read/heard this,I think it was the last letter from the producer, but it'll all be instanced. Every instance will have a set number of housing units available and once an instance is full, it'll create a new one. It reminds me of when one block gets filled up, the server will automatically make a new block and then fill it up and then rinse and repeat. There hasn't been any mention of people being able to sell their houses to other people, so I don't know if that's how it'll be or not. We don't even know how it'll go if we purchase a cheaper house and then go to upgrade. We wont know how our old house will be handled. We'll be able to purchase a house and then through crafting/purchasing we can then build on to it and make it bigger. Purchasing the house will cost gil and it'll go to an NPC, so it'll be an excellent way to remove massive amounts of gil from the econemy. I'm just curious how much gil is an "astronomical" amount. Yoshi mentioned the largest house will cost an "astronomical" amount in his 3rd live letter. He then showed pictures of the largest house and it's basically a castle... He said several lvl 50's can purchase the largest house if they save up their gil.... This makes me sad b/c I'm pretty bad at making gil so it's going to take me forever to save that much up. I'll only be starting ARR with 4 million gil compared to most of my LS mates. They'll all have 10+ mil at the start.

Pics from the 4th live letter. The picture that wada is holding up is the largest house they will make available. If you look closely, you'll see a tiny black speck. That's the size of your character compared to your future paradise.

The following pictures after that are some of the different roofing options you might have depending on the style you'd like to have. Crafters will be able to change the roof for you anytime. They mentioned that you can add pillers to your house and depending on what type of pillar you add, it'll have different effects like increase HQ during crafting chance or an exp bonus. This is what prompted them to hold up the picture of the windmill looking thing. After that is a picture of what the "block" or "neighborhood" will look like in the Uldah residential instance. The LL one will be on terraces over looking an oceanic harbor. The gridania one will be under the shade of a massive tree with branches over hanging the houses with a small lake in the middle. You can see pictures of those if you watch the 3rd live letter.

I'm kind of curious what the armor sets are in the final picture. I've been told they are sets of armor that will be dropped from the new lvl 45+ dungeons called "the great labrynth of bahamut" and " the crystal tower". I thought maybe they'd be either relic armor or an upgraded version of our current af sets.

I'm not 100% sure but I firmly believe all the housing is going to be contained within instanced districts. "land" is not a limited resource however. I believe if all plots are sold in a district you will simply move to another one sort of like the mog house. There will probably unlimited districts in which to place housing as they fill up and housing will be bought by NPCs.

Same here. Hopefully there isn't a crazy land grab with finite resources though. I remember when they opened the second "world" and all that land opened up. It was absolute mayhem as people tried snapping space up.

ETA: I also hope some no good thief can't break in and steal all my reagents lol
