So my first gaming rig build is finally finished. Ran the old benchmark and scored a 5973 on 1080p. woot!(?)
That being said, I know that Japan is getting initial Alpha and Stage I Beta access. My question is: Is there any way I might be able to access the Beta 2/3/4 stage if I didn't have an account during 1.xx? Or do I have absolutely no choice but to wait until retail release of ARR?

Alpha, Beta 1 will be JP exclusive, Beta 2,3,4 will be global that info is from the horses mouth.
Who's eligible? I don't know.. Yoshi said "Legacy" does not guaranty spot, in the Beta. As well playing and paying over the last year also does not guaranty spot. Meaning that when Beta come's closer to global they will have a sign up sheet (if they don't already). Which will require a SE account.

Hope you didn't spend much or that you play other games that will make better use of the power. The PC version is being nerfed a bit so based on your score, you have way more juice than you needed.
Anyhow, the beta testing this go around is mainly server stress so missing it won't be anything major. There will probably be a few things that are new to you if you played 1.0, but most of the core of the game will remain intact. It won't be quite as cool as a test server where you get to preview upcoming changes to the game, although this is something that they should look into should 2.0 take off.

I have tons of plans for the near future with this computer and it wasn't too bad price-wise. The nerf was part of the reason I was glad I scored that high. I spent my entire FFXI career on the XBOX 360, so an upgrade to graphics will be nice. I was hoping the beta would have some sort of registration process for the public, mainly because I do not want to wait for months before I get to play it.

You kinda missed the point. You're not going to be playing it as much as you're just around to spam login testing for server stability. It won't be until the later stages if/when they open the beta that the game will have more of the core systems up and running for people to actually play.
Don't get me wrong... you'd probably get a better idea of how your graphics will perform, but given your 6k score in V1 it's not like there's any mystery to that anyway. Outside of graphics and UI functionality, much of the content that makes it a game will be left out.

No such thing as an overpowered PC... the more the better and the longer it SHOULD last... Overpriced is a different story just depends on the fluidity of a persons income. ^.~

Not really. You're confusing the difference between speed and longevity. Higher cost != longer lifespan.

Hey, my Lambo gets great gas mileage... it sits in my garagemahal and only comes out when there's 0% chance of rain and the temp is between 65 and 66 degrees...
I think the best way to look at it is laptops since you can't really upgrade them as easy, if I buy a $500 laptop it MIGHT play todays games on low settings. If I spend $3K it'll play todays games on max settings and SHOULD last for about 5-10 years, depending when in the console/directx cycle you purchase it, and play games on High to Low settings depending where in that cycle you are. It kinda evens out in the long run if you buy a new laptop every 2 years(ish). Personally I've always thought that in the desktop realm it's hard to beat a budget WalMart PC that is capable of GPU and PSU upgrades for those without a disposable income...

The point here is that it's possible that cheap would play XIV just as well as expensive after the nerf to the graphics engine.
He can upgrade his PC and he said he's got other ideas for it anyway so it's probably moot. I agree with most of what you said above... I just can't figure out how it relates at all to the situation here. You'd be better served using like examples to make a point.

$3000 gets you the Lambo of PCs. Not about what you can afford as much as it is about spending more money for the same performance(at least as it relates to XIV).
