I'll have to watch it again at home with sound... but honestly it felt like the first one offered a better idea of what is happening... this one seemed a little to... everywhere...
On a bright note, I got confirmation of my qualification for the legacy campaign finally :P Hopefully v2.0 will be worth playing (at least for a couple years)

They aren't going to release gameplay footage before Gamecom 2012, which is in mid-august. This trailer is just a pre-game for that. In a few weeks, YouTube will be flooded with whatever footage they release at GC, both for PC and PS3.
At least they are on schedule, with release.

I agree with Yoshi, this is probably a better trailer for FF-fans. The first tried too hard at being a trailer to appeal to "everyone".

I just hope they add storyline content.The sad part about FF14 is i remember npcs names from FF11 and not FF14The guy at the end of 14 wiped the floor with npcs but can't remember anyone in the fight name.

Much better CG trailer, and definitely a much better voiceover!
I'm very excited to see a trailer with gameplay footage, but knowing it's coming in less than two weeks is good enough for me.

We knew Gamescom would bring the gameplay debut. So what's with the crying over extra footage in the meantime?
Is it the frustration over having to wait as much as one week more for the gameplay? I know life can be tough to deal with sometimes.

Actually, the crystal thing dates back to even FF1 IMO if you count "Orbs" as crystals.

I meant the poem, is copied from IV, or the verse and the legend etc etc. I really dislike the notion that XIV needs to copy aspects of the story from the series to stand on its own 2 legs, XI did fine on its own.

I believe GamesCom kicks off here in less than a week, meaning we'll be seeing some FFXIV 2.0 gameplay videos! I'm really excited to see how the PS3 graphics engine performs. I know it won't be as good as the PC, but I'm sure it'll still look fantastic!

IX did not revolve around the crystals, well in IX case the 2 crystals that really existed was the one in alexandria where alexander was sealed and the planet crystal :/ It was not like IV or V or III or 2 or 1 where crystals where the engine that moved the story along and where the main focus off.

I work 6-7 days a week. It doesn't phase me anymore.
I got this Sunday off, which is nice. But I was so sick yesterday that I had to take a half-day. Good thing I'm ahead of expenses for this month.

The game was based on Life and Death, and that was the focus of the game, the crystal theme was a secondary one, it dint consume the storyline as in IV-V, it was never the catalyst for the storyline, again for the first half of the game, crystals dont really mater at all until the end of the second CD, and even then is "Oh alexandrias crystal is broken... cool lets hit on dagger and move on" the only other point where the crystal meters is in terra at the end of the game, and then you are on your merry way to finish the game and it's wonderfully written end boss :/
To compare IV-V-III to IX is totally idiotic, Hell if all we need to say a final fintasy was based on crystals is for it to be a minor plot point linked to the main point of the storyline, then VII was also based on crystals, materia is created from the lifestream, the lifestream is the essence of the spirits and life, OH MY GAWD FFVII WAS ABOUT CRYSTALS!!! YOU CAN EVEN EQUIP IT
You may satire, but you're right. The concept of 'crystals' under the name Meteria was important in FFVII - it became the power by which the world was attempted to be destroyed. It was by which the world was attempted to be saved. It was the primary weapon the main characters used to advance themselves above the rank and file (in terms of gameplay.) And Huge versions of them were even attempted to be used as weapons by the enemy. That didn't take away from the other elements of the game, it added both depth and familiarity to it.
But all of this is distracting from the point that FFIX and FFXIV share the same quality of being fanservice titles - that can and will make several nods to previous installments. You may not like it, but you won't be stopping it, so get comfy with it. It didn't prevent FFIX from being a good title on its own right and it won't prevent FFXIV from doing the same, in my opinion. There will be plenty that makes FFXIV unique in its own rite.

Posted: Aug 12 2012 at 11:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The crystals play a part in IX, but not a large part, like i said if you compare IX to IV or V or III, in those games the crystal are the major plot line across the entire game, everything you do is for or by a crystal all the time, that is what i'm saying, dunno why you people get your panty's in a bunch, if you know your Final Fantasy's you know that after VI the series changed, no longer have we had games where everything was for and by the crystals, they have taken a step back to the personal story of the characters and the individual story of the game, they still have a part but it is not the one they onced played.
