Hi there. So I'm considering giving FFXIV a go. I've done a bit of reading about the coming of 2.0 and also what changes have already been implemented to improve the game thus far.
I didn't particularly enjoy FFXI, though I'll happily admit I played it 'wrong' and done pretty much nothing but grind.
My first question is, should I wait for 2.0 or just jump in straight away. Keeping in mind my time is precious and I would only expect to invest time into one character.
My second question is, are wireless chatpads for both the ps3 and xbox360 pads supported for in game chat?

Not exactly sure how to answer your question on "should I start now or wait" as it could be argued one way or the other. Your second question pertaining to PS3 chatpads(first I've heard of em) would be a most definite "No one knows" at this point due to no PS3 client available at this time and also there currently seems to be no publicly known indication that a 360 version is on the way for launch. Besides, you probably don't want to use a chatpad, if the PS3 version is anything like the 360 chatpad you are better off with a real USB/bluetooth cord/less keyboard.

I kinda liked FXI and hated XIV, i just recently came back to the game, for the legacy campaign, and to see a few of the changes and where the game is heading content wise, and so far, not bad, now if you are going to compare it to any current MMO, it wont stack up per say(Unless you enjoy grinding for absolutely everything) and if you do then knock yourself out XD!
I would say wait. 2.0 is REALLY close, and you might as well get a fresh look at the game. Returning players I would say don't wait because you know what you're getting into.
I love the current state of the game, it's but improved but still has many nagging things that were fixed with bandaids. These bandaids will become repogrammed features that are much better in 2.0, so if you didn't play the old way and then experience these slight improvements (like AH search) then you'll just see them as clunky methods.

I meant using these gamepads and affixed chatpads with the PC version. Since making this post I've seen confirmation that both do in fact work it seems.
'd also like to ask, if there's a specific date and requirements given yet for 2.0 alphas and betas?

Beta starts around October if i'm not mistaken.
