They are everywhere! D: camping in spots with nice drops, mining & botany locations. This group is leveling up so one day they can camp in a spot with nice drops to farm 24/7 while normal players can no longer enjoy the game. Maybe SE likes that one person will pay 30 times over for the game, it can be good funding during the remake period but I really hope once 2.0 is closer they can crack down on this more and eliminate it completely once 2.0 comes.

I wonder how much of the already small population is composed of RMT. If I were to judge from pictures alone, about 75 percent. And then there are the crafting bots, too... 
Oh, but, in SE's defence, it looks really hard to spot these RMT. Lots of legitimate players make half a dozen characters with random letter names, never buy equipment, go in auto-follow, and amass resources for twenty or more hours at a time.

ive seen many many many botters. from farming bots to fish bots and ive reported them screenshotted and sent to special task force like the gm auto reply says ect. nothing EVER happens to them. and this is coming from a person who reported the same bot daily for 3 months and then when i thought it was banned i found it in a new spot..... they never ever ever ban the botters or rmt here.. its not like xi..

The big problem is that, now, RMT like this have had years to horde components and gil and, if 2.0 does go according to plan, then these RMT have the potential to really tear up the economy. They must have somewhere around billions of gil by this point!
If for nothing else than this RMT problem alone, I would recommend all those who can abide losing their progress to start afresh on one of the newly created servers once 2.0 arrives.

I'm surprised this has been so prevalent, it took them years but eventually they really cracked down on rmt in FFXI. I forget how many accounts they banned but it was pretty significant. I would expect they'll do something about it eventually.

They'll have to sell dirt cheap and unless the community decides 2 year old gear is now worth 20,000% more than it was for that reason ( /poke XI circa 2005 ), then it'll just be cheap gil.
I was really hoping they would start everyone on a clean slate in V2. There will be a large piece missing from the community because they didn't want to come in 3 years behind. Reboot was one of the 4 R's so it wasn't a stretch to believe it might happen, but I convinced myself it never would after thinking about it. I'm absolutely certain that most players who still play now are just sticking around so they don't fall behind.
If SE came out and said they were wiping progress when V2 was announced, there would be roughly 25% less people playing then there are now. The remaining players would be named Askud Asdf, Moids Suisd and Qioe oiuasd lol

I cant see this happening, All they will do is flood the market and people will just undercut to get quick sales. That is where the Market Wards are actually useful.
There must be a current market for gil or else they wouldnt really bother.

They come and go in waves. This isn't the first "RMT Squad" I've seen floating about, and most certainly won't be the last as the game progresses.
I should note however, that first wave? I don't see them anymore.
Long story short: It's pointless to attack the small minions until the RMT have invested enough time into them to make it hurt their bottom line to get rid of them.
Ban them early and they swap accounts/fake credit cards without a sweat.
Ban them when the characters are valuable commodities (after they've gathered resources and revealed their bank) and the RMT lose both time and money.
Considering how Isolated the economy is right now, they barely have an impact aside from being an eyesore. And given the incredibly terrible server tools SE has with the current game engine, I doubt we'll see some decisive action in this stage of the game.
In short - no they don't, and neither should you. By the time they become more than an annoyance SE will likely have already taken care of them or have better means to do so.

Those pics look like when the server population was low during free to play . SE had groups of 10 warping from crystal to crystal. The names are way longer an have a pattern here. If you check the wards someones moving massive amount of gil around. 2gill arrows selling for700k repeatedly was my, They don't care moment a few months ago.
Hopefully with the Auction system in 2.0 they'll be able to better track those kinds of transactions. Right now there's no such control there and they're using the Markets to laundry the gil.

Sadly though this requires SE to have players to see them, although I agree to see a group like that I wouldnt even bother wasting my time and just simply delete their accounts. As some one who works in IT Support if I do a scan and find game files in their drives I just simply delete them (same goes for Music) although names like pop stars etc are so easy to spot compared to "work" related sound files. ;)
