hello all, so i pruchased ff14 a few months back and finally just installing it... so anyways i dont do much gaming on my pc but i couldnt wait for the ps3 game launch. so my question is, is there any reccomendations on how to use my ps3 controller for ff14 or should i just get an xbox controller to use? im not a huge fan of the xbox controllers, so id prefer to use the ps3.

You can find drivers for your ps3 controller on the internet. I believe they'll work with the controller plugged in via USB. You can also get a bluetooth adapter and use the controller wireless.

Get a PS3-like Logitech controller for half the cost of an XBox or PS3 controller. That would be my advice. There are some PS3 controller drivers for Windows from some Chinese developers, but I found them to be a bit prone to BSoDs if they weren't Trojan horses to begin with.

Use keyboard + mouse would be my recommendation. For versatility, speed and consistency the keyboard can't be beet. I'll probably change to playing XIV on my PS3 as soon as that's out, but even then I'll be playing with a keyboard + mouse.

I use motioninjoy and a bluetooth dongle, my only issue with it which is hardly an issue. Is having to enable the controller in the program when I start my pc, after that it runs as well as if i was using it with a ps3

hello again, so to update everyone on my controller issues. 1st off i had quit playing for awhile and ended up not doing anything with the controller >.< lol. so now i am in the same boat as before. but my question now is, do many people on here use this motionjoy driver that i keep reading about? and is it worth downloading, or should i just go buy a pc controller instead of using my DS3 thanks

Yeah I would personally recommend it if you prefer PS3 controllers. I been using MiJ for years now. You can play with it pretty much anything and even give it 360 configurations if you need to for different games. I wouldn't recommend wasting money on something else if you are comfortable with that. Its a very easy set up too.
If you like the Dual shock just get a logitech gamepad, the F510 is what I use and I think it was 29 bones. There's one cheaper and one more expensive and then a wireless one, but they all look similar to and feel kinda like a DS3. You can also buy MadKatz or whatever 360 style controllers... all of which work without additional drivers or dongles like the console controllers require.

I was using a PS3 controller with the Motion in Joy driver without any problems for a while, but eventually the controller started to randomly disconnect & I would have to quit the game in order to restart Motion in Joy. It got so frequent & frustrating that I ended up buying a 360 controller. I'm glad I did, I haven't had any issues since.
