I swear that's not a sock-puppet of mine. >.> I appreciate the sentiment. But of course it is all up to ZAM. Heh. I certainly would be willing to put in the man hours to keep ZAM updated to the best of my abilities. ^^;

Will any of these quests still be around at 2.0? I think that is the real reason I have been hesitant to update anything.

Well that... and the new quests haven't been added to the database so users can update them.

Even though the 6th era is ending and the 7th era will begin soon. ZAM should still have a database of all the quest and CS that made the storyline of the 6thEra. So people can look back at it and see what exactly came about to start the 7th era. My two cents.

I think it should be SE's responsibility - not fansites' - to ensure the coherence of their story-line, both past and future.

While I agree, not everyone is able to experience the current storyline. An archive might be nice to pore over before 2.0 arrives.

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking; perhaps you misunderstood my post? I was only saying that games with stability and many players tend to have extensively updated wikis and that, since FFXIV has neither of those first two traits right now, it likewise lacks the third. :)

As a long-time lurker, short-time contributor, I find State Alchemist's posts incredibly informative and helpful. I don't know the inner workings of how things stay updated or what Zam's plans are to keep them updated post-2.0, but in any event, State provides a great service.

I don't think the FFXIV ZAM page brings in enough hits to meet their advertising quota so I doubt they care too much about the content.

Don't take it personally if you aren't, but I can't tell if you're trolling or not...

People have been waiting on D3 since well before FFXI was out. TERA smokes XIV when it comes to depth and polish even after nearly 2 years head start. I'd say it at least deserves a database. ZAM doesn't have TERA forums so the front page is about the only place to advertise it. What better way to get attention than bewbs?



You're not really wrong to point it out, but you should ask yourself why SE or ZAM would promote the game when it isn't ready. ZAM did a beta giveaway 2 years ago and as a result, this forum became the place for people to voice their opinions(mostly bad) about the experience. Then a year later they did the 'miracle patch' piece that was a huge letdown. XIV just isn't noteworthy yet.

Nearly everything added to the game recently has been put in for players who have been playing and are already involved in 'endgame'. A 10 day trial wasn't enough exposure for most players to catch up and experience all these changes and additions. How many threads are there, or even posts in a single thread about how much better XIV is from players who participated in the welcome back campaign?

How could it be trolling to suggest that it would be nice if a smidgen more effort were placed in promoting the subject (FFXIV) that this particular fan site is devoted to?

Now, to walk that back a bit, I want to make it clear that it's perfectly okay for Zam to promote its other interests. I'm absolutely fine with that. But the early symptom of a largely abandoned FFXIV wiki has progressed into what's obviously a laissez-faire attitude towards promoting FFXIV as a viable, interesting game. Again, I'm not attempting to lay blame on anyone in particular. Circumstances for FFXIV are pretty dire when viewed objectively, and it's tough to find volunteers who care enough about it. I certainly don't.

But I feel I'm pointing out the situation for what it is: Even a simple 10 day free trial for FFXIV currently gets less exposure on the FFXIV site than other games in the network. That's the state we're in now.

To be fair Tera has already been out for a year in Korea so one would hope that it's well polished for US release. With a game like this it just comes down to tranlsatiing things and then testing it to make sure none of the tanslations mess with the code. So if they messed up something as easy as that it would be pretty embarrassing. Most mmos that are adapted into another language usually go off without a hitch because they've alrdy be released so they know what to look out for when said game is released in another state.

I mean here's some old news from the Korean version http://www.mmoculture.com/2011/06/tera-korea-major-server-merge-coming.html by June 2nd 2011 5 months after release it went through 2 server merges one from 37-35 then another from 35-15 which is a pretty big drop in such a short duration.

I mean the games only been out for a month but odds are it'll fizzle out even faster then swtor subscription base lol. No MMO is perfect and when you can't grab said magic "new mmos" just become a dream that people pass through to see if it's any good but end up forgetting about it and coming back to games with promise.

Though I don't have anything bad to say about Diablo 3, it's gameplay feels simplified but it's that simplicity which can help it not to be to overwhelming and enjoyable by all. I've only played the "starter edition" but I can see the charm in it, I know this was for another topic but I"ll just say it here, the AH system which they have in the game is pretty much like the cash shops you find in those dinky browser games that take 2 days to make. So really can you blame a company that's spent years making their game to introduce such a concept when people are stupid enough to spend money so that they can build their farm faster or lv up quicker in a dinky browser based game lol. If people want it they'll buy it if you don't want to do it then don't but there will be people that will use it and that's fine let them play the way they want.

Back on the main topic though if anything I imagine the database isn't being altered is becaues of the 2.0 conversion, there's no need to add anything when the 1.0 info will soon be obsolete, once 2.0 gets closer to release if they decide to then they van re-establish their database, but for now there's just no drive for them to update it.

And then I guess words relating to Nazism are all tied for second place.
