How could it be trolling to suggest that it would be nice if a smidgen more effort were placed in promoting the subject (FFXIV) that this particular fan site is devoted to?
When something new and noteworthy comes up with XIV, it's there on the front page. It just happens that there isn't much new or noteworthy.

But the early symptom of a largely abandoned FFXIV wiki has progressed into what's obviously a laissez-faire attitude towards promoting FFXIV as a viable, interesting game.
The wiki is dead because the community is dead here. Common sense and objectivity chased the few remaining survivors of XIV away to the Lodestone. So much irony in these forums lately too. This thread was supposed to be a petition to hire SA. Unless it was a petition for him to get hired on somewhere else, it didn't work well. I don't think he's posted in ages.

I mean the games only been out for a month but odds are it'll fizzle out even faster then swtor subscription base lol. No MMO is perfect and when you can't grab said magic "new mmos" just become a dream that people pass through to see if it's any good but end up forgetting about it and coming back to games with promise.
People will come back to XIV because of 'promise'? I'm not quite sure why you think that way, but I'm playing the game that currently gives me the most enjoyment compared to the alternatives. Promise doesn't factor in to my equation for fun and entertainment.
I'll agree that every MMO goes through growing pains. People flood in and eventually some leave(or nearly all in the case of XIV), but that's normal*. When you hear about the latest greatest [insert product here] then usually you put your trusty whatever it was on the shelf and try the new and improved. If it turns out to be something that doesn't work for you then you go back to what you had.
Eventually the dust will settle and you'll have gamers distributed based on their preferences. Is it story you like? Graphics? Battle system and gameplay? PvP? Something else perhaps? Companies focus too much on being a WoW killer, but that won't ever happen. At the time and considering the alternatives, there wasn't a game that put all the elements together better than WoW did. Perhaps not to your liking, but majority consensus was that even if something had it beat in one of the categories, it lost out overall.

XIV being the exception
