I have to rant. I don't like ranting on forums but I feel this issue seriously needs to be addressed. I'm reposting what I posted from a topic in the Carpentry forum where the issue was brought to my attention:



Thank you so much for this info. Zam has now made me waste at least 40k trying to make stuff listed at rank 11. I was under the assumption that they knew somehow that it was indeed rank 11, not that they were merely listing it as the lowest possible assumption. This is such falseness and I am frustrated.

If they aren't sure of a LARGE level range between 11-20 (that is a BIG gap!) then post it as either 11-20 or 20! Don't under guess it falsely implying to your reader base that it is 11 when you have no idea what it is between a large 9 level gap.

I would have never known this if I hadn't come to the forums and saw this post out of the blue. I was frustrated with two different rank 11 crafts and came here to see if anyone was having trouble with the same ones. I'm sure the thousands of people who use the database but not forums are wasting their time/rescources thinking they are high enough since one of the biggest sites are listing it as rank 11, when in fact Zam has no idea what level it actually is. ///endqoute///

Or even list it as - as an unknown rank. Stating something as 11 when you have no idea is just really, really bad imo. I'm annoyed I wasted so much time/rescources on something that I thought was 3 levels lower than my rank, when in fact it was probably 5+ levels higher.


Also, on a different note, how do we add the prices that vendors pay for an item? Just as a comment on the item's page? Or somewhere else that's specific for that?

And also, when I click an item on the recipe list, it takes me to a page listing the materials, then I have to click the completed item link on that page to see comments, what its an ingredient in, etc. That really seems like an unecessary extra click/load.

Thanks Pikko. I think until a general rank is confirmed by someone that having it as either rank 11-20 or unknown is better than 11. I really did get confused, doubt I'm the only one. Really glad you're taking the time to change it though.

Nice! Text + Icons woot. Can we get facilities listed too? Facilities + skills required to craft each recipe should be listed somewhere, it gives you a greater idea of the difficulty or whether you need to actually go to your guild hall just to get the guild specific facility.

Trying to craft something that is rated as rank 15 at the same rank as your crafting level without having the recommendation diminishes the chances of success. This is why things like the Copper Rings or Brass Rings (which don't require the facilities or any special skills) can be created easily 5 levels under and reward staggering amounts of SP making goldsmithing easy to level.

A very good primary example of this is this link here for bronze wire. I posted this link because I want you guys to read the comments tab.

A level 23 armorer is failing this. And the reason is simple. He isn't using the guild facility which is a recommendation and might as well be a requirement to actually crafting it successfully. I think it's important to list this in the recipe for this very reason, it doesn't seem to be public knowledge but it should be by anyone that has a clue in crafting.

This also means some of the recipes currently listed on ZAM due to having an influx of comments/input from crafters who don't understand the system are posting higher ranks necessary than really required. But I guess in any case, it's better to overestimate than underestimate the difficulty of these (less angry feedback :P).


PS. I can make that wire on my level 10 Armorer with the guild facility no problem.

Any chance we can have an option to show more than just 50 items per page in the DB?

Yeah, we already post the facility needed, we just don't put it in the list because it's kind of crowded as is.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but in the DB if there is more than one page of info on something the sort function only sorts the page you are on, not all the pages regarding the items you are looking at.

Ok so apparently the column sorting thing is intended to be for just the page. If you want the whole list sorted by that particular thing, please use the filter instead. (Order By)

My suggestion is to use bookmarks. :)

NPC sale prices:
----------------
HQs are sold at a fixed mark-up from the NQ.
+1 sells for +10% of NQ.
+2 sells for +25% of NQ.
+3 sells for +50% of NQ.
Numbers are rounded down. So you only need the NQ sale price.
Some examples:
* Moko Grass sells for 50/55/62/75.
* Iron Ore sells for 260/286/325/390.

Local leve bonus rewards
------------------------
Local leves have bonus rewards if you score 100+ rating.
What I found was that the bonus reward is always the same across all leves for a craft, if the normal reward is the same.
Some examples:
* If the reward is Moko Grass x3, the 100+ bonus reward is Hempen Fent x10.
* If the reward is Sheepskin x2, the 100+ bonus reward is Mole Sinew Cord x5.
* If the reward is Copper Ingot x3, the 100+ bonus reward is Soiled Femur x1.

Also, the bonus reward seems to multiply for every 100 rating, so if your rating is 200+ you get 2x the bonus reward. I only confirmed this for Sheepskin x2 though, so perhaps other leve rewards follow a different pattern.

Would it be difficult to add a comparison among Items in the Database? Like comparing armor, weapons or tools.

Has updating of the database been halted? I try to put in anything new i find but ive noticed since about the 25th nothing has been updated.

Just want to know so that if its no longer needed i wont feel the need to give info on my findings for others.

No, you should keep commenting. I've fallen behind and have taken to prioritizing certain category comments, but will still get to them eventually.

One of our devs was fiddling around with comments and I noticed a bug as well. Try seeing if it works now.

The recipes for arrows needs to be adjusted now. According to lodestone, they yield 333 instead of 32 now.

You might want to add a menu option for DATABASE > LEVES > FACTION LEVES like you have for Disciples of War & Magic right now. Or add a faction leve search option to the leve search page.

If one doesn't exist (and I just don't know what it is), it would be nice to have some sort of hot key combo to automatically set focus to the search box up top. ctrl-z, ctrl-alt-f, something like that.

I'm starting to notice a very consistent error on the bonus stats of various items. While all the actual values are correct, the stat itself is very consistently erroneously switched... like showing TP+32 instead of MP+32 or Magic Evasion Rate+5 instead of Magic Crit Rate+5.

I've been commenting on such items whenever I notice it, but I'm beginning to notice it's like this for almost every gear piece with bonus stats :S
