New ToAU walkthrough...some spoilers, names onlyFollow

#1 Aug 27 2007 at 9:22 PM Rating: Good
This is what I have so far, if you have new info...please add.

I will edit this post accordingly.

Allied Rumblings ToAU 39

Go to Teahouse for a CS.

Key Item: Allied Council Summons

Then go to Jeuno, and walk into the Archduke's Palace for another CS.

Title Gained: Endymion Paratrooper.

Unravelling Reason, ToAU 40

Go to the Guard Post Room on the left inside the Palace. Talk to Pherimociel inside for another CS at (G-6). Zone afterwards.

Next game day, talk to Pherimociel again.

Select "Ready"

Get wraped to woodlands after a cs, and get another CS automatically.

Light of Judgement, ToAU 41

I-7 Rodin Comidin, go to him in Whitegate upper level.

Key item: Nazul Isle Route

Grab poison pots before you go any further.

Path of Darkness, ToAU 42

Warp out to Nyzul Assault Point, and click on a blank spot at the pole sticking out of the ground.

Click yes when it asks you if you want to proceed. When you do, you will be blocked from Naja's though until mission is complete. You will get a CS at this point.

Go to Runic Seal in the back of the staging area, and be ready for a BC.

Path of Darkness is the BC's title. Buffs wipe when inside. 30 min time limit.

Naja is helping you inside. If she dies, you lose. You will have to go back to Taru to get new key item.

Four gears pop at engagement of Amnaf.

What we did, was have the PLD pull Amnaf, then when the gears popped, slept them all. BLM sleepga doesn't work, but BRD's Horde and single Lullaby does.

Kill the gears first, then worked on boss. He is a BLU and uses BLU moves, but is easy to damage.

At 50%, he will warp away to another room. He will then turn white, but won't regen. You can walk up to the next room and rest up before you engage him again. If you have any dots on him, it will take him down to 27%, but nothing really below that.

When you engage him again, he will pop more gears again. Four, just like last time.

Repeat like before.

At 10%, he will warp away, and become a Soulflayer. Chase him down, and rest like before.

When ready, pop poison and engage. He is like a normal Flayer, with Sleep, curse and bio.

Title earned: Naja's Comrade-In-Arms

Fangs of the Lion, ToAU 43

Go back to Sahleems in Whitegate for another cutscene.

Get Key item: Mythril Mirror.

Nashmeira's Plea, ToAU 44

Go back to the Assault Nyzul Isle point again, and click on the blank spot for another cutscene.

Title gained: Nashmeira's Loyalist.

There is a fight at Runic gate again, and lasts fourty-five minutes. If you lose, you have to go back to Whitegate and talk to Naja again to be reflagged.

Nashmiera's plea is the fight's title. You will first fight a BLU named Raubahn. He isn't that much a problem himself, other than his Eyes on Me attack virtually one-shots our tank. While you are fighting the BLU, Alexander will be attacking as well, doing Diaga III and Banish IV for decent damage.

Once you kill Raubahn once, he will Reraise up and you will have to fight him again. Once you kill him that time, he will reraise again, but be melee resistant.

Once he is finally dead for the third time, there is just Alexander left. Not too difficult, kept Light Carol up and melee'd it down.

At 50%, there is a CS.

Once the CS is over, you will be facing the true Alexander at 100%.

He terrors, and does a high DMG AoE move called Void of Repentance. This move is stunnable, however. He continues to do Diaga III and Banish IV. After 50%, he will do Gospel of the Lost which will recover about 1k of his HP.

At 50%, he does Divine Judgement, which one-shotted our tank.

If you wipe at any point in this fight, you can reraise anywhere on the field. Alexander does not aggro, but will react to hostile moves made against him. Futhermore, he won't regen.

Our setup: BLM/RDM, MNK/NIN, MNK/WAR, PLD/WAR, WHM/BLM, BRD/WHM. All were 75.

The key to this fight is to have the mages off on one side, the melee on either side, and the tank tanking away from the mob. This means that the AoEs will only hit the tank. Our BLM/RDM was able to do all the stunning with little problem. The BRD kept up Light Carol for the full fight.

Title earned: Preventer of Ragnarok

Ragnarok, ToAU 45

Go back to Naja for another CS.

Doesn't matter which options you choose in CS.

Imperial Coronation, ToAU 46

Dress up like you did for the previous mission when you had to go to the palace.

Be sure to not wear any weapons or grips.

Once that is done, click on the Imperial Whitegate entrance (L-9) for another CS.

Select your ring! If you don't select one, you can click on the Imperial Whitegate entrance again to get it.

Balrahn's Ring
[Ring] All Races
Magic Accuracy +4
Assault:
INT +4 MND +4 CHR +4

Lv. 50 All Jobs

Ulthalam's Ring
[Ring] All Races

Jalzahn's Ring

Title: Champion of Aht Urghan

Earned item: Imperial Standard

The Empress Crowned, ToAU 47

Go back to Naja for another CS.

Item received: Glory Crown!

Title Earned: Eternal Mercenary

And that's it...

See you in Wings of the Goddess.^^

Alexander in his "true" form does aggro, I raised by him and got hit with Radiant Sacrament, a ranged light-based, AoE centered-on-target attack that also lowers magic def, according to our BLM.
He also has draw-in.

It might be worth noting that the BLU (who is female btw ^^) can be easily slept with Sleep II, by a RDM or BLM with decent enfeeble. We were able to keep her out of commission in an adjacent room for the first 2 phases very easily. Mentioned it in my >.> Spoiler free.. Guide ...lol.

I did this twice, first time half cocked and just for fun then was going to log. Before I logged I found another pt, and got to second form. We did about 20% dmg and wipe. I started to tractor people out of Arrgo range and lost two people in limbo.

Just for the hell of it and after the two people Dced after being in limbo for 5 mins. I ran around looking for a "Switch" to turn him off. But nothing. (It was worth a shot) I think that he is way over powered.

We almost had Alexander, but when I tried to Tractor some people they got disconnected and then we ran out of time. I don't know if it's a bug that will always happen or what.

After defeating Alexander, you must return to Salaheem's Sentinels, which will trigger a cutscene upon entering.

After that, you have to go to the imperial whitegate to enter the palace. You must have the same "proper attire" and lack of weapons as before. You also must keep two inventory slots free, as you will be given the choice of Balrahn's ring, Ulthalam's ring, or Jalzahn's ring and given an imperial standard (furniture).

After that cutscene ends and you have your new toys, head to Salaheem's Sentinels again for another entering-triggered cutscene. Keep one slot open again, because you'll be getting something that was taken from you a long time ago!

And that's all.

Not to sound like a malcontent, but A) there was already a thread for this and B) this post is FAR from spoiler free. Posting names of characters and enemy to be fought is by very definition a spoiler, as it gives away part of the story.

Yeah, saw the threads after I posted...x.x;

I fixed the title, since I couldn't really do much without mentioning the names :(

But I kept plot points out at least.

Updated through the end.

I like the sound of that sleeping the BLU idea. Just a few questions though, has that worked for anyone, and does he begin to resist sleep?

Quick clarification of your phrasing - from the way you put it, I was under the impression that at 50% he'd heal himself for 1000-ish once and that'd be that. But it's more accurate to say that below 50% he gets access to that move. (And he *loved* to spam it for my group.)

1/1 on the fight, thank you for the info you gave. (We barely scraped through mind you, but it was still first try.)

Some tips for the last battle (some spoilers). Take a balanced party of melee and nukers. Since Reubhan (sp?) can be immune to either melee damage or magic damage (or ranged attacks, but this one isn't a big deal) you will need a balanced mix in order to kill him quickly (and killing him quickly is of utmost importance).

We won with Pld/War (me), Nin/War, Mnk/War, Blm/Rdm, Brd/Whm and a Whm/Blm. The strategy was as follows (and it worked well). After we buffed up I pulled the blue mage back to the entrance so we'd be out of spell range of Raz. We dispatched him three times (he was immune to melee attacks, so it took longer than we would have liked.

We did a partial rest, then quickly dropped Razha-whats-his-name to 50% health. We then did a full rest before engaging Alexander. For this I stood just outside of melee range, but close enough so he woudn't use Draw In. The melees took up positions on either side of him. The mages stood behind me. This helped to minimize damage from AoE attacks (ie. only some of us would ever be hit at one time). I kept hate by curing myself and fellow melees and bard, spamming provoke, and using hate generating JA's as soon as they became available.

Before he dropped to 50% health the Blm stunned the Terror move, after he stunned Divine Judgment. At 50% health he did Divine Judgment. Though I survived this, he followed it up with another nasty attack and I dropped. We promptly wiped, and I recomend everyone die go all out and die as quickly as possible once it looks like a wipe will be eminent. This is so you can get up and full rest/get rid of weakness as soon as possible to save time. Whm and Blm need to have rerais up and be far enough back as to not get aggro when they raise. They then quickly begin to tractor and raise people so the resting can begin.

As soon as everyone is ready its time to dive back in. Same strat as before. if anyone is going to 2hr (the only one we used was Hundred Fists) I recomend doing so at 20% health as it would suck for him to us Divine Judgment at 10% and kill you during Hundred Fists or Mighty Strikes, etc. At 10% health we went all out, and won with seven minutes to spare.

Some things that could have made this tanking style easier is the inclusion of Magic Damage - gear. I had the Resentment Cape, but Coral gear and an Ice Staff could have also helped.

Another tip for any plds who wish to tank this way, you will not be engaged in combat, but his dmg done to you will still give you TP, so you can use Chivalry when you want (can be used at least twice in this fight if it goes on long enough).

I guess the last tip is a no brainer, but mages must make sure they keep reraise up. I brought a reraise scroll and earring since I would not be within melee range and got up every time I died so I could help do as much damage as I could, but this was only after the midfight wipe we expected.

The trick is to be as efficient with your time as possible. This means dispatching the blue mage quickly and do as much steady damage as you can. Make sure you check your entrance time so you know when your time limit will be up, and use 2hr abilities accordingly if you get pinched for time.

Hope that helps, sorry it was so long.

ToAU 44. won the fight with nin, whm, blmx2, rdm/drk, and me on sam/thf. Nin tanked behind and up close, he said he used the sacrament move less often up close. Blms nuked, and only times i engaged were to WS after building TP with meditate so i wouldn't give too much TP for the Gospel move. If the tank stands behind alexander SATA will take full effect even if the nin has hate. kept the tank at full hp around %50 and nin survived divine judgement. Only time it got messy was at 3% when the whm was outta mp and the rdm jes got killed after converting, tank died and blms dropped, one blm RRed and nuked with tier 4 and fight was done. end of fight 2 ppl dead and everyone in red and low mp

Out of mild curiosity, is Razfahd damageable before Raubahn's had his 3 defeats? If yes, then does the CS and battle change still trigger at 50% Razfahd HP? And finally, if yes, what happens with Raubahn in stage 2? Same as in stage 1, different, does he change sides and fight alongside you?

Just an odd idea that popped into my head, and wouldn't be too hard to test for anyone still on the missions.
