hey i was just doing the Tactics Pearl quest and dced on 26 mobs and i through oh well my npc will be back but when i log in he never showed up -.- am so pissed the gm said he can't do anything aswell -.- so don't dc on the quest or you have to redo it -.-
yup just like if you d/c when you call your NPC out, that charge is pretty much wasted. ; ;

You can always do the quest the next day. If you are looking for speed in doing the tactics quest while still getting the most experience for your NPC you can always kill strays. They go down in 1-2 hits and they count towards the 30 for your NPC to get max xp.
If you DC while out in the field with your NPC out he/she comes back when you log back in. It doesn't have to be a DC, you can kill 10 mobs and log out, when you come back your NPC will repop. Same goes for zoning.

Yeah, this was (somewhat) newly implemented.
It is also worth pointing out that the zone you move to must be capable of letting you call an NPC in the first place. If you get a Teleport-Dem, your NPC will still be out when you arrive (NPCs can be called in Konschtat). If you zone into a town, your NPC will be gone and will not return when you zone back out.

that must be new then cause when I was first leveling NPC in altepa.. if I got DC that charge was GONE ><

With the NPC update where you can zone your NPC, you can now dc and your NPC will come back.
As for the Prom quests, I have been able to simply zone out, and zone back in (immediately) and restart the quest.
This has been handy when I want to mess around in the proms, since I can go in, kill whatever, go to the top floor, and just let my npc go (by zoning into the tower), and on the next prom just bring her back out.
I plan on using this to get my slivers as well... just haven't had the spare reraise hairpin to try and get there (assuming I will probably die on the fourth floor... Though getting there is harder then running around on it)
