Got the record on Maat fight as 70 drg, my first Maat fight. No items, no millions of gil in gear. I beat 10 yrs of ppl plowing throug him as 75/99 but as a 70 doing it for first time!

Sorry for punctuation and spelling I'm groggy, I just woke up after only 2 hours of sleep as I have an appointment to get too I'll fix it when I get home.
Edit: I'm a bit more awake now and fixed spelling and punctuation for the most part. Headed out the door now, just couldnt live with myself after re-reading all the errors :0

The record times for all BCNMs (including Maat fight) are reset during maintenance.
So you only have the fastest time for the last 24 hours or so.

But good job on clearing Maat regardless.

but it really isn't at all amazing, and i won't pretend it is just because people might rate me down. In fact the people who are patting you on the back are just doing you a disservice. By all means, grats on your win, and your record, but it doesn't really mean what you think it means:

1. records get reset regularly by maintenance.
2. even if they didn't you'd only have beaten the people on your server. i hope an explanation of the word "server" isn't necessary.
3. you beat him on dragoon. dragoon has one of the easiest Maat fights.
4. everyone who fought Maat for the first time did it between the levels of 65 and 70. you can't level past 70 until you beat him.

I'm not trying to be mean, it's just i can't stand ignorance.

I do so loathe people that try to weaponize their own accomplishments as attacks or insults against others by claiming that a single event makes them better.

Grats, I suppose.

I too beat Maat first time out as a Dragoon, like you I was so excited I stood in Jueno and sang a few bars of Ode to Joy. Dont let anyone take away your moment, I soon found out I would not have the same ease on my Taru, Blu, mean while my wife was laughing her head off as she sailed through Dancer trials lol. Life is made of stepping stones enjoy this one, you may end up soaking wet on the next. Congratulations and good luck. ^^

That is some major de ja vu there. I remember back in the day thinking I'd broken the record for every BCNM I came across. It would be nice if the records didn't reset as such...

Congrats!

As others have mentioned DRG Maat is very easy in comparison to other jobs. Back in the day it was very common for people to beat Maat between level 67~69. Personally I beat Maat my first time also on DRG at level 67 about 9 years ago in less than stellar gear.

But the fight is a good measuring stick and I wish more games had more "trials" like this to proceed further in the game.

You say that like you only dished it out because someone else initiated the dishing out. In reality, you started dishing things out right out of the gate with your thread title.

I beat Maat on the first try as a 66 WHM Tarutaru on my dry run. Didn't set any records, but this was before the spell Repose was added, so a WHM fight was basically hoping to keep him slowed and paralyzed and hoping he didn't interrupt too many cures so that you survived him beating on your healer **** for 5 minutes straight. I didn't expect to win - I just wanted to see what kind of conditions I'd be facing at level 70. I "won" with 35 HP and 18 MP left.

Now that's an accomplishment I'm still proud of almost eight years later.

Congratulations!

(I beat Maat by using one Job Ability. It took about 5 tries.)

I feel slightly insulted by the title. I beat Maat on RDM at 67, 5 years ago, and I'm a retired 8 year veteran of the game. It took 3 tries and he wasted me in 10 seconds on the first try. The second was more of an experiment, but it dragged on, and he ended up introducing me to Asuran Fists. 3rd was the one to remember because we used chainspell at the exact same time, so it boiled down to who could burn down the other the fastest. RDM went to be to my first job at the then level cap of 75.

Lol, first you made yourself look bad by mistaking your high score, then you turn around and attack another poster for pointing that out. Cant just admit you were full of yourself and made a mistake? Thats why youre getting the rate down :P Your post came off as really full of yourself, then you realize you were wrong and instead of apologizing you just come up with excuses and attack people. I dont care if you made the mistake but your reply to Llester is pretty ridiculous.
