Can't get a PlayOnline account or password (Xbox 360)?Follow

I recently got a copy of Final Fantasy VI Online Ultimate Collection. I installed (and updated) the PlayOnline viewer, and I try to start the PlayOnline Registration so that I can get a PlayOnline ID and password. However, when I press this button, it says "you will need a square enix account to perform playonline procedures.for details on transfering a playonline id, please refer to following website." So I go to the website ( http://www.playonline.com/homeus/polshift/ ) which only explains how to link a Square Enix account to a playonline ID (keep in mind that I still don't have a PlayOnline ID). So I create the Square Enix account, but I don't know what to do now. I can't link a non-existant PlayOnline account to a Square Enix account. Can anyone please help me out with this?

Also, I really doubt that this means anything, but in case it does, my email for my gamertag and my email for my Square Enix account are different.

Somebody help me with this, please. I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong area, I am very new with this.

Where did you get your FFXI Ultimate Collection from?

If you don't have a POL ID or registration codes that came with the game, it's probably a used copy. You'll need to buy a new copy to obtain a POL ID, we usually recommend buying the Abyssea collection from Amazon or Steam. The full game is fairly cheap, US$20, I think. This will give you required pieces of info that you can use for registering.

It does not matter that you're buying a PC copy, but really using an xbox. Accounts are not limited by platform.

I got it on ebay. Used, I'm guessing.

Now that you mentioned it, I noticed a registration code in the back of the booklet thing in the case (forgot what it's called). Where would I enter this code? And if this code is used, is there anywhere else I can go to get/buy a new registration code?

Edit: I guess you were editing while I was posting xP.

So where does this code go? And if I buy the game on steam will I know where to find the registration code?

Also, since I'm on the 360, does that mean that I need codes for all of the expansions, too? I bought the ultimate edition as opposed to some of the other available options so that I would have it all. Does this mean that I still need to buy the add on scenarios, the wings of the Goddess, PLUS the other 3 expansions that have been released with every xbox release of FFXI?

Someone please help...

You can buy the PC code for $20 and apply it to your SE account, and then play it on Xbox. The actual accounts are platform independent.

okay, but do I have to repurchase the expansion packs, or does that come with it (also, is it already installed on the ultimate edition disc?)?

And where do I put these codes that let me get my playonline account?

And how do I get to the part where I create my playonline account? I can't get to it because of the reason I mentioned in my first post.

You will want to purchase the "FFXI Abyssea Edition". It will contain all the necessary expansions and you will not need to buy any additional discs for your xbox.

I haven't set up an account in years, so I cannot walk you through setting up your account. I think if you go back to POL, it should step you through the process of setting up a new account and your POL ID will automatically be setup with the SE account you created. You should not need to transfer a POL account to an SE account- that was a process all of the veterans had to go through since SE accounts are a newer part.

You have to log into your SE account and go to services and add your key there . Not too sure how starting a new account goes nowadays ,but when I made mine years ago they issue you a playonline ID and password. these will be different from your SE username / password. When you log into POL on your xbox you need to enter your SE ID and password , POL ID and password. As far as expansions go , whatever is named on the front of the box is what you get . If it's the one I have then it includes all expansions up to Wings of the Goddess but none of the add-on packs.

I think I might be beginning to figure this out (thanks everybody for the help).

From seeing this, I thought to look at the Select Service page (which is located under the Services and Options tab at the bottom left corner of the account page) for PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI. I then clicked on the PlayOnline logo, which said beneath it, "Add new PlayOnline service account." It then took me to this page ( https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app ) So I entered the code in the back of the booklet, and xypin was right in that the code had already been used.

So I now plan to buy the game on steam (FFXI Abyssea Edition) as to get the registration codes.

So does this mean I could have gotten a used copy of the standard Xbox 360 Final Fantasy XI (the one with just the first 3 expansion packs)? Also, this comment is slightly different from the one that marsupialboy had.

Could somebody possibly provide me some assistance with this?

In order to have access to content from full size expansions (Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promethia, Treasures of Aht Urghan, Wings of the Goddess), you need the appropriate disc(s). This may come in the form of having a single disc for each expansion or you can buy all these on a single DVD like with the collections. On PC, these discs are only required for installation, but for the 360, I believe you need at least one (read: any) of the discs to play the game after installing. You also need registration codes, which again, come in either one per game or a single "collection" code.

Not all of the data for an expansion is delivered through an update, which is why the discs are required.

There are 6 additional mini-expansions. Three story driven ones then three Abyssea mini-expansions. You only need registration codes for these 6 mini-expansions. No boxed versions are available and no additional content outside of what is included in updates will be on the discs.

Comparing the Abyssea Edition and Ultimate Edition, there should be no difference in the data contained on the discs, but since the Abyssea edition includes extra mini-expansions, the registration code will include access to those mini-expansions.

I'm sorry but I am kind of confused by this. So what you are saying is that because I have the expansion packs and three of the add on- scenarios on disc, then I do not need a registration code? But I do get a registration code for the Abyssea expansions?

Also, does the Abyssea Collection have this "single 'collection' code"? If I use this code, will I be able to play all FFXI content included with the Abyssea Collection across platforms (remembering that I have the ultimate collection for xbox, which includes the 4 expansion packs, and 3 add on scenarios, and not the abyssea mini expansions). Is it possible to play the Abyssea mini expansions on my xbox?

Please clarify a bit more simply, if that is possible xP. I'm still really new at this, and thanks A LOT for your help. You've saved me a lot of trouble.

EDIT: Also, what do you mean by "(read: any)"? If that means anything...

The original expansions must be installed from a disc: RotZ, CoP, ToAU, WotG.
PC players can get away with installing them from a torrent or something, but you have find the discs for 360.

The add-ons and Abyssea are DLC.

An Abyssea Edition key will unlock all content, but you still need the installation discs for the original expansions.

One question about the wings of the goddess for xbox 360. Does it include all the expansions, or just the one?

I think the original 360 release included up to ToAU, and so WotG is the only standalone one.

But if I buy the release of Wings of the Goddess, will this be the only expansion pack available, or will I also be able to play the other three?

Also, on what xbox releases can you play all four expansions?

There seems to be a few different "collection"editions . The copy of the "vana'diel collection" I have has "Rise of the Zilart" , "Chains of Promathia", "Treasures of Aht Urgahn" , and "Wings of the Goddess" but none of the 6 add-ons .If you don't have "Wings of the goddess" then I believe you need the disk for that expansion to install on your HD . Then you need to add the Aybssea code {from steam} to your account . As for the {read;any} that means you need to have any of the FFXI disks in your 360 to play.

eta: there will be 2 codes from steam ...1 is the registration game code and the other for an in game item Destier beret.

So I got the Abyssea Collection on steam, and my steam client showed me two product codes. One code was labeled "FINAL FANTASY XI: Ultimate Collection - Abyssea Edition", and the other one was labeled "FINAL FANTASY XI: UC EDITION - Destrier Beret Key". I looked up the Destrier Beret and found that it was an in game item. I read that it can be redeemed on my square enix account.

I am also assuming that that is where I redeem "FINAL FANTASY XI: Ultimate Collection - Abyssea Edition", and that when I redeem this, I will get a play online account.

If I am mistaken in this at all, please tell me. If I do have the right idea about this, tell me, as well.

However, I ran into another problem while I was trying to redeem the code for "FINAL FANTASY XI: Ultimate Collection - Abyssea Edition". I went to this page ( https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app ) where I typed the CD key for "FINAL FANTASY XI: Ultimate Collection - Abyssea Edition", and because I am 17 years old, it gave me this message:

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

PARENTAL CONSENT REQUIRED

According to the birth date entered, you are between the ages of 13 and 17. PlayOnline accounts are available only to individuals who are at least 18 years of age; therefore, you are not allowed to complete the registration.
If you are between the ages of 13 and 17 and wish to participate on to the PlayOnline service, you must have a parent or legal guardian complete the registration process and agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions provided within and throughout the PlayOnline service.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

The only option after this was to go back, which takes you back to the Services and Options page ( https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/poltop )

I would prefer to keep my accurate age with my accounts, so can anybody help me with this?

There are no links to anything that would let a parent or legal guardian complete the registration process or anything, so I'm at a loss (again).

By the rules SE has laid out, if you're 17- you're supposed to have your parent or legal guardian control the account, and you play it with their consent. This is because, I assume, you must be 18 or older to enter into a legally binding contract of service, which SE makes you consent to before you start playing.

Well, if you're comfortable with lying on legal documents... SE would have the right to ban your account if they found out, though.

Yes, they both start and are billed at the same time. It used to be that SE charged $12.95 a month and that included the first character, but now they've separated it so that it is $11.95 for an account, and $1 for each character on top of that.
