I found out I have a few friends playing on a server other than my own. I'm strongly considering purchasing a World Transfer but was wondering if it's a quick process or if the character is unplayable for an amount of time while the transfer takes place? The Square Enix website makes no mention of the amount of time this takes. Also, does doing it over a weekend make the process take longer as well?

As someone that has transferred servers before, I can assure you that it is a very, very quick process. I don't know if it's as short now with the Square Enix account system, since I transferred back when everything was run through Playonline, but it took me a matter of minutes to transfer from Siren to Garuda.

Same here, it was painless to go from Bismarck to Asura.

Given the amount of dollars/euro/yen SE charges for world transfer one would expect them to do it rather quick.

I've transferred twice. Its quick and painless. The best part is all of your characters can be transferred at once for the same price.
