It always sucks when the random number generator screws you over (*cough* Voidwatch *cough*). But has it ever been especially favorable to you?

I recently decided I wanted a Prouesse Ring, so earlier tonight I headed out to Zeruhn Mines. Got on Page 4 and started beating stuff up. As it turned out, a JP player was there leveling his second account. He asked: {Team Up?} I said sure, but made clear that I was just there for the ring. He said that was okay and we started duoing.

A short time in (45 minutes), and I'm off to a crappy start. We were going through pages at a decent rate, and saw a scant few brown chests drop, but they were crap. Not even a single Treasure Casket Prowess... When suddenly, another brown box appeared. I walk up and take a hint. It was half decent, so I decided to randomly guess. Immediate success! The box opens, I peer inside...

And I'm greeted by not one, but TWO Prouesse Rings. Probably my happiest WTF moment ever. The JP wasn't even checking the chests, so I said, "{Ring}! {Box}! {Gather Together}!" We took our rings, thanked each other, then parted ways.

What about you, fellow adventurers? Ever went 1/1 from a rare NM drop? What about getting a HQ on a particularly tough synth? Maybe you've had some not-so-stingy caskets yourself?

Post the times Lady Luck smiled widest upon you.

I got that ring by accident. I was just there for a short time doing something like finishing off a merit or capping xp on a job, just a few pages worth. I don't even open most of the brown chests, but I opened that one and it was there, my friends in my LS spent days camping that thing. I almost felt guilty.

My luckiest moment is probably the night my sky ls went 3/3 on kitty pants and I got the 3rd set.

I was pretty happy too when my friends and I decided to low man Kirin and they let me have the wlegs off their pop. (which we went like 3/3 on as well I think)

Although setting up an X's Knife static and winning the lot after ~6 runs or so was pretty nice too.

I felt lucky anytime a 35 piece from salvage showed up in the pool too.

My luckiest absolutely has to be Gothic Gauntlets (Treasure Casket item from Xarcabard). The shoes in Behemoth's Dominion took me a very long time to get, to the point it was getting pretty frustrating, but I finally got them. Then it was time for hands... Outpost warp into Xarcabard, killed the very first skeleton I saw - brown casket, opened it, GAUNTLETS!

Next would probably have to be Deluxe Animator from VW, since it comes from a T3 Windurst fight that would really never be spammed (the animator is only item that's really worth trying for, and good luck getting people to spam a VW fight for a PUP only piece). Was doing Windurst full path Tier 1-4, had one shot at the animator and got it, 1/1. I've only fought the NM one time ever and got the item though! And I know the odds are REALLY against you to get a targeted item in a VW fight unless you just get eventually it from sheer repetition.

FFXI has certainly made me pay dearly for my fair share of drops though, so a couple super-lucky chances just helps even out the overall situation ;)

Probably not very lucky, but I went 1/1 on Swift Belt back when it was more rare. I also went 1/1 on Brooder's boots (can't remember the name) back before anybody knew what atma's and procs were.

I was 1/1 on the Empress Hairpin way back in 06.

I went out to Upper Delkfutt's tower to skillup marksmanship on thf. I grabbed a page and headed up to the floor to kill and the 2nd mob I killed dropped a brown chest with Potestas Bomblet in it. I admit I purposely went there to skillup for a chance at it, but I was honestly not expecting it after hearing the horror stories of others.

I also was messing around killing flies in the Dunes waiting on my friends for a Misareaux Aby run. VE popped and I went 1/1 on empress hairpin.

Three things come to mind when I think of luckiest moments.

1) Logged in one day in Pashow, Bo'Who Warmonger was up. I was able to kill him and got the tortoise shield.

2) After farming animas for our upcoming promy runs, I was running through dunes and found VE. Got the hairpin 1/1. Ran all the way to Gustaberg and say LL was roaming around. Got the boots 1/1 that day (after being like 0/100+ all the other times I intentionally camped it)

3) Beating Promy-Mea. 4/6 members were down. Just me (war/nin) and a rng. No animas, no 2hr, no healing left. Think we were both under 100hp left. Somehow we managed to pull out the win and get teleported to Lufaise Meadows.

After spending days in the grotto farming gil I finally had enough money to buy the materials for the hades sainti. I bought them and started shouting for a crafter. At this point I spent all my money and I was hoping to find someone for free. Which I did, He started crafting.... And HQed it. After a few minutes of hesitation and some back and forth in tells. He gave it to me.

I don't think I ever been more ecstatic in my life.

P.S. I then joined his shell and became his whm whore for over a year so I think I worked it off.XD

I went 1/1 on a genie weskit when it was a T0. It was a friends mats though and I swear he used all my crafting luck in that one synth. Never was able to make one for myself. I even threatened a few times to desynth his to get my luck back.

First off, let me just say you all suck. If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any. Seriously, I have never gotten a drop from a NM that I was trying to get, except maybe Bubbly Bernie.

I guess my one lucky moment was on my 2nd character. I was doing Genkei 1 but after a long hiatus I had no help and had to solo my items. I leveled BST just for these situations. Got bomb, and then mold no problem but I was loathing the idea of getting paper as I had spent 6 hours every night for a week and a half straight until it dropped. That was with an ls helping. I felt another long break coming on again. I went to the backside through that snowy zone (can't remember the name, brainfart) and let call beast cool before I engaged a lich. Between pets, meds, and a bong sitting next to me, I was ready for a long night. No need. 1st one dropped. I was so excited I kicked the bong and stained the carpet. Now every time I see the stain I think of my luckiest moment in Final Fantasy 11.

Same as someone above; I was 1/1 on the Empress Hairpin. But what makes it more lucky, she was already spawned when I arrived, so it took me all of 5 min to get the hairpin.

Many years ago, I was in the Maze of Shakhrami as a DRK56 farming scorpion shells and claws for bonecrafting. Since my inventory was almost full, I decided to drop down to the Buburimu side of the maze and take out the couple of scorpions that hang around the Argus spawn area, and then head back to Windurst. But when I get there, there's four or five /anon campers in various positions in his room. Only there's something different this time...

Oh, yeah. Argus. He's. Just. Sitting. There.

Somehow, all of the campers are either asleep or AFK, because he's right there. Without a second thought, I engage. Now even a modestly-equipped Level 56 should be able to dispatch Argus with ease, but I was half naked, since I had sent all of my ACC gear to another character for skilling up. Furthermore, my MP was down to virtually nothing since I had been making rather liberal use of Drain while farming. The result was a rather hairy fight, and I had to use Blood Weapon towards the end to stay alive. But eventually he goes down, and since the topic of this thread is "luckiest moments", you already know what I saw:

"You find a peacock charm on the Argus."

(This was back when Argus still dropped the non-rare/ex PCC.)

Now, it wasn't all good news. Unfortunately, I had to drop one of the farmed scorpion shells to make room for the PCC. (This was a sacrifice that I was willing to make.) But I got it completely by accident, and without spending a single femtosecond camping for it. And the lesson is that even some of the most heavily-camped (at the time) NMs can sometimes be found completely unclaimed.

Back when Dynamis - Xarcabard usually only yielded 1~2 AF drops, we finally got THF hands to drop. At the time, the linkshell's main Thief was busy with school. If he had signed on for the event like he said he was going to, they would've gone to him, but they went to me instead. The same thing happened a few weeks prior to that with our linkshell's first Love Torque drop, but at the time the armlets were still more rare.

I got a Lux Pugio on my very first voidwatch run.
I assumed that every run was going to be that profitable; every drop was going to be that easy....

...Haven't got anything useful since.

I had my credit card number compromised at an online retailer.

My card issuer changed my number and terminated the old one, almost immediately. The monthly fee just happened to end up being charged shortly afterwards; SE was still requiring SecureCode (which my card does not support), and I didn't get around to bypassing it before my content ID was auto-cancelled due to declined payment. Rather than try to re-activate immediately with my new card, I figured it was time for a short break from the game.

Not long afterwards, SE switched over to their Crystal / ClickAndBuy system, which made it even more of a hassle to get payment set-up (so I didn't bother).

As a result, I did better than expected that semester.

My luckiest moment was when I joined a "Gustaberg Tour" run my first day in this game. Four out of the 5 people who went on the run with me became my best friends in this game.

Sadly I woke up a few minutes later.

Being a BST, I had a ton of seals to burn and decided to try my luck at some BCNM. I went for Treasures and Tribulations which if you aren't familiar with, involves opening 1 out of 3 chests which will then either reveal itself as a mimic or a genuine chest filled with treasure.

So I run in, choose a chest and out comes a sorcerer's ring which at the time sold for around a million if I remember correctly.

High on my success, I decided to go for a few more runs with no luck whatsoever seriously putting a dent in my seal reserves.

I did the same thing a while back but with different results. I had great luck with picking a chest going 8/10 but not so much luck with the items in the chests. I think I got 8k or so for the most expensive item I sold.

1/1 on claim and drop on Argus; also, it was a short camp.
1/1 Empress Hairpin.
Then went and went 1/1 on Lizzy.
1/1 on Carect Ring--took several days for the stupid NM (Stubborn Dredvodd) to show up though.

But don't worry! The RNG evened things out with 1/5 on Rain Hat, 1/20 on Vilma's Ring, and a bunch of mediocre drop rates on a whole bunch of other stuff I forget right now. BALANCE!

Back in the day I never had really great luck or really poor either but with this new fangled VW event, I've had rock solid bad luck. Namely Ig-Alima buck futting me over and over with that crappy sword when I would gladly take 4 out of 5 of his drops for my beloved DRK.

Then one day I answered a shout for Uptala.

1/1 Aces first fight then pouch second fight. I just about sh*t myself. That pouch paid for my last few trials on Fulgurante too.
