I would post this in the job specific but I don't know that this IS job specific.

To get to the point; my Shiva wont cast Sleepga. The macro doesn't work (/pet "Sleepga" <t>) and even if I go in through the menu and select sleepga and try to use it on something, all I get is "... A command error occurred."

Is this a bug with Shiva's sleepga, or something of mine?

pc/360/ps2/windower? Where and what are you doing when you experience it? Did you make sure Sleepga is capitalized?

edit: if windower, what plugins are you running?

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

PC/Windower

I have Spellcast active, but I don't know if that would affect anything when I Physically go into the menu and choose Sleepga out of the Blood Pact: Ward section.

It's a spellcast issue, more specifically the plugin thinking you're trying to use the BLM version even if using /pet. BLUs/BSTs have seen similar issue with things like Sudden Lunge. I don't know the fix since I didn't use SC, but I think the default answer tends to be "update your resources" and whatnot.

I've never used spellcast so I can't speak for how it universalizes macroes, but blood pact abilities aren't /pet commands normally. Try this

/ja "sleepga" <t>

Blood pacts always follow the /ja command when I play. Again, I don't know how spellcast would mess with that, but that's the standard syntax to macro an avatar's blood pact.

typically speaking, for pet commands, /pet and /ja are pretty much always interchangeable (Note 100% that it always applies, but it does for every pet command I've ever used. I prefer /ja since it's shorter, but with certain things I use /pet for the sake of clarity; ie, reminding myself that it's a pet command and that it doesn't work without a pet), and it won't help here since neither is the /ma that spellcast is looking for, and the /ma it wants won't work.

I've looked around, and SC is probably the issue. I also read that this issue was supposed to be fixed already, and updating my resources with //updateresources is supposed to fix it. Alas, it did absolutely nothing. Not sure how to go about fixing it now. Would just really like to be able to mass sleep on SMN, lol.

Alt-B and go to the bloodpact submenus?

Or does that get broken when you use spellcast, too?

SC literally intercepts any input before sent to the game, which it then interprets to do whatever swaps it does. Literally, the problem here is instead of doing /pet "Sleepga" <t>, it's wanting to do /ma "Sleepga" <t>, which a SMN can't do unless /BLM of the appropriate level. I wouldn't be surprised if he can't use Blizzard IV from Shiva or other BPs that are spells, either. Looking at an Resources.xml I have here, Sleepga is indexed and ID'd as #273. The BP version is #174 and #611. He can try editing that to see what happens.

BLM Version:
<entry recast="30" casttime="3" mpcost="38" skill="EnfeeblingMagic" targets="Enemy" element="Dark" type="BlackMagic" japanese="スリプガ" french="OmniSommeil" german="Schlafga" english="Sleepga" prefix="/magic" index="273" id="273"/>

SMN Version:
<entry recast="0" casttime="0" mpcost="54" skill="Ability" targets="Enemy" element="None" type="BloodPactWard" japanese="スリプガ" french="OmniSommeil" german="Schlafga" english="Sleepga" prefix="/pet" index="174" id="611" tpcost="-1"/>

Ultimately, though, fixing this is something he should be trying to do on their forums.

Sometimes you simply can't beat the vanilla game. At least everything works as intended.

Is it not just that Shiva isnt engaged to the target?

/pet assault <t>

/pet Sleepga <me>

? Wasnt that the thing with pet moves, self target only?

No, if it's a bloodpact that targets a mob, you still have to have it as <t> or <bt> or something along those lines so it will go off on the mob.
