I'm looking at the best race for a cleric, how it looks with the armour on.

Similar to my response to the most fun class, best looking race is in the eye of the beholder, so it's impossible for me to tell you what you would think looks best.

I have always felt High Elves look good in plate armor.

but so do lots of other classes that hardly ever get to wear plate... Erudite as a example

I agree with amastropolo, basically what one you think looks the best, as race doesn't play as crucial of a role as it used to. However my personal cleric looks pretty sporty wearing a robe (he mainly hangs out in the lobby any way so doesnt need his armor on at all times). If you are a humanoid race Shade Silk Robe is fairly easy to craft at low levels. Granted its actually a tunic, but has a robe appearance on most races.
High elf female cleric in the non-plate graphics can look amazing. Dark elves (male or female) in their cultural (old) chain look great too. Femail dark elves with the skull helm are scary.
Human clerics look like Shadowhaven residents to me, but that's due to the era when I started playing.

Dark elf, or maybe drakkin, would be my two choices.
