Lots of questions being asked outside of this thread so copying and pasting into it so the knowledge isn't lost when the question comes back up in a week.

I left a bit after LoY.
How does LDoN work? instances I mean.
What is this monster mission thing? Worth my time or just a usless timesink. Any fun?
...... and more about shrouds later
So if I am understanding the SOE help, when using a shroud you still get exp for your char, Is this at a reduced rate? Does faction get adjusted from what you kill? As you play as a monster you work to unlock more monsters of that type? Can you group with people not using a shroud?

1. Yes
2. No idea
3. Yes
4. Yes, that is why they did it, so low levels could play with their friends.

I'd personally put the shrouds as more of a novelty/niche use for the most part. Most all aren't capable of doing as well of a job as an equal level player with even average gear. (assuming the playing skill is the same) Though I would say the disparity isn't as noticeable at the lower levels, compared to higher. I've used shrouds plenty of times to play healer or tank for a low level group of friends who needed the help.
Also I'd say the experience gained in shroud form is lessened somewhat, from what it would be as your normal self, but i'm only going with how it has seemed when i've played shrouded.

shrouds are basically useless. I unlocked all of the reptile shrouds on my main before I had 500 AAs because I was bored and side by side my lvl 70 sk would do more damage than a shrouded 70 zerker in the highest evolved stage. If a real tank does more damage than a shrouded dps class, I'd imagine my lifetaps were probably on par with the shrouded cleric. It was usefull however for using the rogue to shroud down and PL a pure caster, but this was using 3 accounts (druid who was doing most the work, rogue shroud that was using throw stone to make sure one point of damage was done to everything, and caster who just sat there and got xp)
To answer anything not answered yet - While shrouding you gain xp based on your level, it's not exactly reduced. Example if you are lvl 75 and you shroud to lvl 5 you will get xp based off of your lvl so killing even cons to a lvl 5 will give you a negligible amount of xp, but if you're lvl 30 and shroud to 30 and kill even cons it will be like you aren't shrouded. Or at least close enough you won't see a big difference.
LDON instances -------
There are 5 camps in Norrath for starting LDoNs in: Butcherblock, Commonlands, Everfrost, N Ro, and S Ro. First thing you have to do is the
Adventurer's stone quest. This stone will let you port from magus to magus (there's also one in the guild hall, and one in the abysmal sea) and makes life a little easier. To request an LDoN you must have at least 3 people in your party. Go to one of the afore-mentioned zones and find the wayfarer's camp and hail around till someone offers you a task. Accept and head to the zone they tell you to. Once in the zone your instanced is in you will get a mark on your compass, just follow the mark until you are to it's destination then click on whatever it is (doorway, etc.). Now you have you're very own zone that only your group can access. same with instances in all the later expansions.

This is a question that has been naggin me, but that I have never paid enough attention to in order to figure out completely:
When a group is putting the smack-down on a mob and said mob goes belly up, someone gets the emote "You have killed (unfortunate mob)" and others get the emote "Soandso has killed (unfortunate mob)." Has the person that gets the "kill shot" done the most overall damage to the critter, or are they simply the last person to smack the critter when it dies? I suspect that the case is the latter (i.e., the last smacker on the smackee), but am not completely sure. M'aidez. Thanks!

The one who damages the mob for the final hit point it has left gets the kill shot.
You may confuse this with the way experience is dealt; say you have two groups killing the same mob: the group that does the most overall damage gets the experience - regardless of who got the kill shot. This also goes for powerlevelling: as long as you Uber_Friend_01 only damages the mob down to 50.1% and you do the remaining damage to kill the mob, you get the xp. Mind you - YOU could do the first 51% and let your friend do the remaining 49, and you would STILL get the xp.
And then there was a long discussion about PLing that can be summed up as:
Let's keep this simple in terms. There are two people involved in the powerleveling. One the uber level 75 whatever, "Powerleveler" and the level 1 noob, "Powerlevelee".
Regardless of who casts the Damage Sheild it still doesn't count as someone did damage, the mob just takes damage. No matter what method of DS you use the powerlevelee just has to do one point of damage and the powerleveler can't do any. The powerleveler can spam short duration DS and crank out the 1k damage per swing DS no problem however. Doesn't have to be a potion, spells really work the best. Druid, mage, and SK can clear a zone in one pull Just make sure your PL-ee has done damage to all the mobs before you put on the 1k+DS and watch half the zone fall to your feet at the first cast. (take off weapon, ripostes are the suck)
Pet classes are really easy cause the pet will never draw agro and will always do at least 1 point of damage.
This way also works better than casting DS on the PL-ee because the high level, I don't know let's say 15k SK can take quite a bit more abuse than the 400 hp whatever you're trying to level.
