I too found it a bit confusing and too much trouble to use when it first came out. Have not bothered since. But now, I am getting the feeling that as my characters get up in level they will be able to afford and NEED the enhancments provided. I will be experimenting a bit myself. My Trader needs to dump some slow moving merchandise...

Try this thread. I remembered it wasn't long ago that we discussed it, but there's only a few posts in it so it probably scooted to page 2 pretty quick.

One of these days I hope they start allowing you to use no drop items for tribute favors. I hate having a backpack filled with no drop stuff worth nothing and having to destroy the stuff.

One great thing to do if yu want to rack up your points is to buy something in the bazaar that SOE thinks is worth more than the econmoy does. Say you buy a pair of leggings that go for 6k. Many times if you use them for tribute points you can get 20k in points. It is a lot of money to be spending for buffs but they do last a long time.

Another great thing is now the guild tribute points. Has anyone been using this yet? Our guild started using it for things such as spell cast haste and mana regen for the casters. Also added HP. It's helped out a lot to cut down medding times with big fights. We've just been donating a lot of the stuff that drops during raids to it, and we've been racking up the points pretty quickly.

Thanks all

I used the Tribute system last night. It was a great help getting some of the focus effects that I don't have at the monent.

Well worth the effort.

There are 2 types of tribute now.

Personal (GoD) and Guild (OoW).

Personal tribute works by donating items and/or coin to your Tribute Master in your hometown. You build your Favor Pool this way.

You then pick what you want as effects from the list. Several of them have different Tiers which are level restricted. Each tier progressively costs more Favor. When you pick what you want, you will see a total cost in the bottom of the Tribute Window (Alt-U). This total amount of Favor will be the amount deducted from your Pool every 10minutes that Tribute is active. When you click activate, this amount is removed from your pool. 10 minutes later, this amount is removed again, 10 mins later....and so on.

The amount is removed at the BEGINNING of the 10minutes and the timer is refreshed if you ever turn them off in the middle. The timer does not run when the character is logged out.

Effects include: All Focus effects I-IV, Haste (worn, up to 41%), FT I-V, Regen, Vengence, Stat boosts, Resist Boots, See Invis, EB, UV, Faerune, and a few others I'm sure. You can have up to 4? (I think) effects running at once.

You will need to return to your hometown tribute master to modify the effects, but not to turn them on or off.

Guild Tribute works by donating items or coin to the Guild Tribute master (one is located in PoK for sure, not sure where there are others.) This system works much like the personal system, except that only officers and above can modify the effects given. Any member can donate for favor though. Members can "Opt in" and "Opt out" if they wish to receive the effects. The timer runs while anyone is "Optted In" and online.

Effects include - most of the personal tribute effects, FT/Regen/Vengence, Haste/Spell Haste/Double Attack+, HP/Mana/End, and a few others. I personally like the combination ones and will be runnign FT/Regen/Veng and HP/Mana/End for the guild. You can only have a max of 2 effects for guild tribute running at once.

I am not sure how (other than visiting the tribute master here) to turn these on for yourself. You can Opt out at any time though by hitting the Opt Out button on the guild management window (There's a tribute tab now), or on the guild tab of the tribute window.

I never game them much thought, but once I learned how to use them, I cant not use it anymore when grinding. I use Mental clarity 5 (ft5) with the one that gives me more chances to make my nukes hit haigher. I regen a lot faster now so there are a lot less med breaks and my nukes do some serious damage. It also cleards up spots in your inventory if you had a focus effect item that you can just use tribute points for, to get better gear.

"Tribute System

The Tribute System was introduced with the Gates of Discord Expansion. Tribute Masters can be found throughout Norrath in the home cities of each race. Players can turn in items and coin to the Tribute Master to gain tribute points. These points can be used to purchase effects such as; HP/mana, stat, and resist increases, HP/mana regeneration, and various focus effects. Players can purchase a number of effects and they can be uprgraded at consecutive levels. The effects will run on a 10 minute timer that will refresh itself until the player turns off the tribute or runs out of tribute points.

A Guild Tribute system was later introduced and works in the same manner just except that each donation goes towards the guild entire point amount. A guild leader or officer can than activate effects that will benifit any and all guild members who have 'opted in' to the system"

Not a complete necro post. Maybe he/she bumped it so it would be on the first pay and he/she could then find it easy.

Always was teasing me. He was probably at work and posting from there.
Note Always and I are in the same guild. At least that's what I'm going to think so I don't have to take away his officer status.

I didn't see any Personal Tribute Master (or any new NPC) in the Guild Hall. Did you mean Guild Halls in the Housing zone? I don't have UF, HoT, nor VoA, so it may be that, but I've never seen an NPC not show up because of not having an expansion, only zones they may be in not being available to get to them.

Well, the OP was from 2004... it could have been the first post made by the OPer.

Besides, with the newest karma system (2011 edition), we're going to see way more low-post gurus if they stick to posting on the friendly EQ boards as we are nice here. Happy New Year to you as well Jonwin!
