The Pillars of the World is a story about a young witch who serves as the linch pin, keeping a portion of the realm of the Fae from disappearing. But the Witch's Hammer has a grudge against women like Ari, who are able to call upon certain elements and help heal the land. He has fashioned horrible devices, like the bridle which is worn on a woman's head and has a clamp that is inserted into her mouth to hold her tongue. The Fae are an arrogant race who think they are far better than the humans, but find they must depend on those humans to keep their land from disappearing into the mists forever.
