Description

Her mind guided by a mother she will not see again for centuries, Polgara beings life in the Vale, growing up in her uncle's Beldin's tower and in the prehistoric Tree that is the heart of that magical place. There she first learns the reaches of her powers and assumes the bird shapes that will serve her on her far-flung travels. As her adventures carry her far from the safety of the Vale, her spellbinding fate unfolds. For Polgara is destined to be guardian of the world's last, best hope: the heir to the Rivan throne.

By Belkira

I purchased this book after passing it over at least a dozen times because of the cover art. "Oh, one of THOSE fantasy novels," I thought. It looked cheesey.

Instead, I ended up falling in love with Polgara, her sister Belderan, her father Belgarath, her adopted uncles Beldin, Belkira and Beltira (yes, that's where I got my name, no I'm not a guy). I have read this book over quite a few times, and it inspired me to pick up Belgarath, The Belgarid series and The Mallorean series. The only real question left is: How much money can this pair make retelling the same story over and over? Regardless, I enjoyed them all!
