Looks like simple version of Second Life
Funny thing is most people tend to explore the world digging down into it. I've never seen anyone built up high like that. There is a vast system of natural caverns and mines beneath the surface filled with monsters (day and night) which usually contain the most valuable resources (coal,gold, iron, diamond, etc.)
As for not being able to see underground, just build a good supply of torches. They never burn out.

I'm not sure if you know, there is a multiplayer survival mode aswell, for the people who buy the game. Plus you forgot to mention the map is infinite.

I was playing this with my friends from school when it only had multi player available and it was totally addicting! Just going around looking at stuff that others have done is pretty awesome too, there was a huge ship that was being built by three guys from Norway (lol) right next to our house that seriously just got bigger and bigger. After about a month i just stopped playing it. I think it was because i played it like five hours a day and my imagination just couldn't come up with more stuff to do. But with the new single player game it seems pretty interesting, I might test it out.

Maybe if the game looked better than doom I might think of buying it but as it is now I don't see why people would play this... interesting concept though.

You forgot to mention that enemies spawn in dark areas like caves n stuff in the day
