Stellaris becomes Paradox's best-selling game to date
At the Game Developers Conference in March, Paradox Interactive -- well-known for their grand strategy titles like Europa Universalis and Hearts of Iron -- announced it was going to make space great again. With yesterday's launch for Stellaris, it would appear that, at the very least, the publisher is making bank again.
(I'm sorry, you have to allow me one crappy joke before noon.)
Stellaris, a space-themed civilization game, has reportedly sold over 200,000 copies in the last 24 hours. That puts it slightly behind the day-one sales for Paradox's city-building sim Cities: Skylines, which sold around 250,000 copies -- however, with a higher list price of $39.99, this means Stellaris leads in terms of overall day-one revenue.
Critical reception for Stellaris has been positive as well. Here's what we thought of it when we saw it at GDC!
