Watch the fathers of Doom become Jedi masters in this new game teaser

'Old game dudes being adorable' is the best game genre.

Normally I'm opposed to running stories that are basically "we're announcing an announcement." A new game by Doom co-creators John Romero and Adrian Carmack is no different: just because you basically invented the first-person shooter doesn't mean you get a free spin of the hype wheel from me. No sirs.

But. But look at this. It's so charming and sweet, and Romero makes such a perfect wise old Jedi hermit. And Carmack, man, look at all the love and devotion in those eyes. Someone's being called to a Great Purpose here.

I'll refrain from commenting on the team's new game, since they'll be doing plenty of that themselves with the official announcement on Monday. Just bask in a couple old game dudes being dorks together for a bit. It's a good time.

Disclosure: Romero and I have both been a part of the IndieCade independent game festival for the past several years.
