Titanfall 2 is a go, will actually have a single-player mode this time

All-but-confirmed follow-up to blockbuster game now confirmed, has a 2 at the end of it. Oh, and there are swords now.

Remember sitting in the theater watching Pacific Rim, and Raleigh yells about them being out of weapons, and then you cheered as Mako busts out THE FRICKEN SPACE SWORD? That, I have to assume, was the impetus behind the new melee weapons in Titanfall 2, which has been officially teased as of this morning.

We've more or less known a Titanfall 2 was coming for a while now, but it's nice to get some confirmation. Nicer still is the knowledge Titanfall 2 will include a single-player mode, which was missing from the original. If you're the type to avoid online multiplayer, or just prefer the occasional evening with a giant mech in the solitude of your own living room, now you'll be able to.

It worries me a little that lead writer Jesse Stern (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare) has apparently promised the game will contain scenes where "science meets magic," but let's try to keep an open mind, shall we? It's not as though giant bipedal robots are the most grounded and realistic thing to begin with (sadly).
